Chapter 517

Orson stared at the medicine bottles in Odalys's hand, organized his thoughts, and said, "Aphrodisiac pills, vitamins, calcium tablets, and folic acid! Odalys, are you preparing for pregnancy?"

He was confused, his mind reeling. Odalys was skilled in medicine, even more so than he. He wondered why she'd bought these. He remembered that women didn't need aphrodisiacs; only men did. "Is she a hermaphrodite?" he thought. "A woman by day and a man by night?" This thought led him to look at Percival with a complicated expression.

Orson didn't want to miss this opportunity. He stepped forward, nervously taking Odalys's hand, ignoring Percival's potential jealousy. "If you're female by day and male by night," he asked excitedly, "would taking this aphrodisiac harm your female organs? I mean, if someone alternates between being a woman and a man, how would childbirth be possible if labor begins while they're in their male form? Do you need a C-section? Would a C-section hurt the male organs?" He looked at her eagerly. He'd never encountered such a peculiar body.

Odalys was speechless at his wild guesses. She looked into his eager eyes, silently placed the medicine in his hand, and said, "I don't need the aphrodisiac. I have no use for it."

Orson watched her leave. He wanted to chase after her, but Percival yanked him back, throwing him onto the sofa and snatching the pill bottle.

"Grandpa, what's going on? You're going to take these?" Disbelief flashed across Percival's face. Earlier, Odalys had told him Evander was having a romantic crisis, which Percival assumed involved a woman. He hadn't expected this, but the aphrodisiacs and folic acid clearly indicated a pregnancy.

"Your grandpa is taking them? Not Odalys? So, who's preparing to have a child? Is your grandpa in love? How old is his girlfriend? Can she still give birth?" Orson blurted out. He wondered if a woman in her forties or fifties would want another child, or if Evander, believing Percival to be near death, was so determined to continue the Stewart family line that he'd found a younger woman. "Isn't it a bit much for him to want children at his age? He's in his seventies, after all."

"Don't be silly! I saw this medicine on sale. I thought since you and Odalys just got married, you might need it for children. We'd better prepare beforehand. I must have grabbed the wrong bag leaving the car. I bought snacks for Odalys, but accidentally grabbed this medicine instead," Evander said, his face flushed with embarrassment. He was overwhelmed with shame at having given the medicine to Odalys.

"Grandpa, you think I need this?" Percival held up the bottle of sexual enhancer.

Evander became even more agitated. "It's good to be prepared! You haven't had a girlfriend before, so it's a backup in case you, you know, can't rise to the occasion." He felt a strange sense of guilt. Meeting Percival's gaze, he shivered. "Odalys got the wrong idea. What should we do now?"

He regretted ruining his image in Odalys's mind. He wanted to explain, but feared making things worse. Odalys was only twenty and sensitive. He then remembered he'd left the pancakes he bought for Odalys in the car trunk. The bag looked just like the one from the pharmacy.

He quickly retrieved the pancakes and approached Odalys. "Odalys, I got it wrong. This is for you."

Odalys was waiting for Freya and the others. Seeing the pancakes, her eyes lit up. She quickly took them, took a bite, and looked up at him with clear, questioning eyes. Evander's explanation caught in his throat.

"Evander, what's wrong?" Odalys asked, puzzled.

He awkwardly admitted, "I think I grabbed the wrong medicine."

"Oh, I know I don't need those medicines," Odalys said frankly. Taking medicine was normal, and as someone knowledgeable about medicine, she didn't see it as shameful.

"Huh?" Evander stared. He couldn't speak, caught between explaining and staying silent.

"Evander, these medicines aren't good for your health. If you need it, I'll prescribe some traditional medicine. It should be better than the modern medicine you bought," Odalys said.

Evander's face flushed. He regretted coming to explain. He thought, 'No wonder Percival didn't rush over to explain.' Facing Odalys's pure innocence, the more he spoke, the more aware he became of his own awkwardness.

"Okay," Evander managed. Odalys checked his pulse. "Evander, your health has been good recently, and you've been getting enough rest. You don't need medicine."

Evander fell silent.
