Chapter 564
Odalys returned to the car, and Orson handed her a bottle of water. "Odalys," he said, "Percival floored the gas pedal to get me to safety, then went back despite the danger. I've never seen him so anxious. He likes you, you know? He's not good with sweet talk and probably hasn't confessed, but he's persistent. He's set his sights on you," Orson gossiped hurriedly.
The flustered look on Percival's face reappeared in Orson's mind, and he couldn't help but rub his chin, his eyes full of amusement.
Odalys remained silent. She took a sip of water and turned to look at Percival in the distance, talking to a police officer who was respectful to him. Percival walked toward them after finishing his conversation.
Percival looked disheveled, his clothes filthy from his rush. She assumed he'd fallen, given his leg injuries—stab wounds and two other injuries. Yet he didn't mention them or grimace in pain.
At this thought, Odalys's hands clenched involuntarily.
Orson whispered, "He's back, Odalys. Don't tell him what I said, or he'll kill me." He couldn't imagine Percival in love.
Percival returned to the car, opened the back door, and sat down. "I've made arrangements. They'll cordon off the pit. We'll play along with Windsor's scheme for now. When he realizes the flood only damaged one side, we'll see what he does next," Percival said.
Odalys nodded, looking worriedly at his leg. "Can you feel anything now?" she asked.
"No," Percival replied.
Odalys said nothing else, but raised her hand, looking at the ring on her finger. It had calmed. "It warned me just now," she said.
A terrible thought struck her. She looked down at the ring, saying in disbelief, "Could Windsor have been involved in the film city incident?" Otherwise, she couldn't understand the ring's agitation. It clearly sensed something.
"Windsor involved? That's impossible. He's your father, and he wasn't even born when the major general in the film city died," Percival said subconsciously.
As soon as he spoke, the car fell silent. Percival turned, disbelief etched on his face. "No way," he whispered, his voice trembling slightly.
Orson drove, listening to their conversation, his heart heavy with anxiety. He felt like they were speaking in riddles. He asked anxiously, "Explain it. Windsor wasn't born then, so what's the problem?" He was curious but lacked Percival's sharp wit, feeling he'd missed crucial information. He thought, Damn it. Had I known this, I would have gone to Stewart Villa, even just to eavesdrop.
"It's possible Windsor was switched with someone last night, like Francis, and someone else's soul is in his body now," Odalys explained.
Orson slammed on the brakes, screeching to a halt. He gripped the steering wheel, turning to look at Percival and Odalys. "No way! If he was switched, wouldn't he be like Francis? Damn, is it that scary? Didn't Hannah notice anything? They've been married for years and have children," Orson said, puzzled.
Chapter 564 (Continued)
Percival watched Orson's agitation silently.
"Windsor was abroad for three years and only recently returned. He and Hannah haven't been in contact for three years," Percival reminded him gently.
Orson's realization was immediate. He'd almost forgotten.
"That night, we followed Windsor to the Simpson Villa. He contacted the Simpson family, but they didn't come out. This explains the overlapping figures in his body after you used magic," Percival said.
Odalys said, "So Windsor was replaced, but his soul is still there, suppressed by another soul." She gently rubbed the ring. "So, are you saying this soul might be related to your family's extermination? Brandon is your enemy, yet you weren't as hostile to him as to Windsor. Could the soul in Windsor's body be a Brandon ancestor? The original perpetrator?"
The ring remained dormant.
"Brandon closed his shop and retreated to the mountains to avoid us, but we brought him back. Orchestrating his son's death at the Bennett Villa was all part of his plan," Percival said. "He appears to have done nothing, but in reality, he has done quite a lot."
Orson was flustered. He couldn't connect the hunched old Brandon to these events.
Odalys said, "He's after the Bennett family's energy field. He's probably at the Bennett Villa to find Windsor. They had contact before, or maybe he doesn't know about Windsor's situation yet."
"Let's sound him out later and see if he knows Windsor's body is occupied, and that soul is likely another ancestor of his," Percival continued. "Windsor must have contacted Brandon before going abroad. Brandon knew Windsor before he left Crownridge, and he used him because of that familiarity."
Orson was excited. "Odalys, count me in! I'm fine with errands. I just want to participate!" He craved the excitement, especially the possibility of ghost hunting.
"Is it possible Windsor's trip abroad was orchestrated by someone else? If so, Brandon might know that family too," Percival guessed.
Suspicion fell on the Simpson family again. They were a mysterious entity, remaining silent and composed despite everything, as if nothing concerned them. They seemed to be biding their time. Even with Percival freezing their accounts and seizing their projects, they hadn't reacted. They were unresponsive, like dead people.
