Chapter 81
When the beggars received the call and realized they could be paid for sex with a woman, they were immediately motivated. They knew she must be wealthy, as she was staying in a VIP ward.
One beggar said, "Fuck, there are two of them. Which one's the target?"
Another said, "Why don't you take the one with the crooked mouth? I want the other."
Someone else chimed in, "Why don't we just do both?"
They began arguing over who would take which woman.
Henry and Caspian arrived in the ward, rushing to the scene. Sophia and Hannah were pinned down on the bed. Hannah was terrified and struggled violently, her legs held down and her mouth covered.
"Help!" Hannah screamed repeatedly. Sophia was jolted awake to find a group of beggars on her bed.
"Get lost!" Sophia cried, terrified. The beggars' attempts to kiss her filled her with disgust.
Sophia fought back fiercely. Seeing this, Henry and Caspian rushed forward, pushing the beggars away.
Standing protectively in front of Hannah and Sophia, they shouted, "You shameless beasts! What are you doing? Get lost! If you don't leave immediately, I'm calling the police!"
The beggars, clearly disgruntled, were about to retaliate when they were interrupted.
"What do you mean? Didn't you call us? Fine, if you want us to leave, give us the money!" They demanded, reaching out their hands.
Henry, already furious about losing $15 million, was enraged by their audacity. He believed Sophia must have been under some kind of influence to have made the call in front of others.
"Take it and get lost," Caspian said, throwing a $1,000 bill at them.
After receiving the money, the beggars sneered, "Only $1,000? You're cheap! Oh well, something's better than nothing." They kicked the trash can as they left.
After the beggars left, Sophia sobbed uncontrollably. She was truly frightened.
"It's Odalys," she cried. "She's trying to kill me! Why is she doing this? Why won't she leave me alone? Henry, Caspian, I give her back my position. I don't want it anymore."
She knew Odalys had manipulated her.
"Don't cry," Caspian comforted, hugging her gently. "I'll get justice for you."
Hannah lay silently, reflecting on how her previously easy life had taken such a drastic turn, especially since Odalys left her family. She wondered why she, and not Odalys, was suffering.
"Henry, no matter the cost, we have to find Mr. Carline," Hannah said fiercely.
"Yes," Henry nodded. They couldn't afford another attack from Odalys.
Atlas was still missing, his phone unreachable.
Downstairs, Selah, Odalys, and Freya were laughing together.
"I didn't expect him to actually pay," Selah said, surprised. It was clear extortion, yet Henry had caved.
Odalys explained, "The Bennetts' reputation is already ruined. If this gets out, Sophia's career is over. They're vain; they'll do anything to protect her image."
"They won't give up on Sophia," she continued. "She's the daughter of the Bennett family. Even with her damaged reputation, they believe she can still marry into wealth and restore the family fortune. The variety show is in three days, and Sophia has to participate. If her reputation is further damaged, and the show demands compensation, the Bennetts will lose even more than they lost to me. Besides, Henry's a businessman. He calculated the risk."
Freya gave a thumbs up. "People like them are disgusting. We just have to be tough, and they won't cause further trouble."
In a cheerful mood, she suggested, "Let's get some supper. My treat!"
"Let's go," Odalys agreed generously.
Freya was driving a sports car; Selah took a taxi. It would be cramped for three in the sports car.
"Take my car, I have an SUV," Odalys offered.
Freya called a designated driver for her car. The two joined Odalys in her BMW 5-series, a seven-seater SUV.
"Odalys, this is a BMW 5-series, at least $30,000! I didn't expect you to be so rich," Freya whispered. It was impressive for someone who’d been wronged by the Bennett Group.
"It's not mine," Odalys explained. "A friend lent it to me temporarily. I have to return it eventually." She needed a car for convenience until her relationship with Percival ended.
"A friend? A man?" Freya started gossiping, with Selah joining in.
"Yes, a male friend," Odalys admitted.
Selah suddenly remembered something. "On the variety show, you said you were married. Is it this friend?"
"Nonsense!" Freya exclaimed. "Odalys is only twenty. She can't be married!" She liked Odalys and hoped to set her up with her brother.
"What do you want to eat? It's past midnight. Shall we order takeout?" Odalys asked quietly.
