Chapter 98
Odalys burst out laughing, whispering, "The Bennetts are shameless! They stole the Stewarts' wedding gift from me. I only got it back because the Stewarts' bodyguards were present."
Changing the subject, Orson began to talk incessantly. Percival ate quietly, occasionally serving Odalys food. Only when Orson paused did Percival turn to Odalys and say, "You're participating in the second half of the variety show tomorrow!"
"Yes," Odalys replied softly.
Percival said thoughtfully, "If you need anything, ask Dorian to prepare it in advance."
"No need. I bought everything yesterday," Odalys murmured, referring to her shopping trip to the pharmacy and other stores.
Orson asked, his heart pounding, "Odalys, are you free later? I have some medical questions." He feared rejection. He'd previously mentioned Odalys's acupuncture skills to his father, who wanted to contact her directly—a request Orson had refused, causing a rift with his father. Tonight, his father had prepared specific questions for Orson to ask.
"Sure, after dinner," Odalys replied.
Orson's eyes lit up, and he ate faster. "Just give me half an hour."
"The food you brought is good," Odalys said unexpectedly.
Orson was stunned. "You like it?"
"It's delicious," Odalys confirmed.
Orson grinned, a stark contrast to his demeanor with Henry.
After dinner, Percival returned to his study. Orson and Odalys went to the courtyard, where Dorian had a table set with snacks and drinks before discreetly leaving.
Orson presented Odalys with written questions: "I want to ask about your acupuncture treatment, this powder formula, and the combination of acupuncture and traditional medicine. How do you force out poison that's invaded the bloodstream?" He leaned forward intently as Odalys concisely answered, providing examples. Orson was astonished.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go upstairs," Odalys said, rising slowly.
Orson, recording her answers, asked, "Odalys, how do you know this? Who taught you?" He'd never encountered such knowledge.
"Self-taught. When I was young, I practiced on myself," Odalys said, returning to the living room, leaving Orson dumbfounded. After a moment, he exclaimed, "Self-taught? On yourself? You're so bold!"
He collected his notes and went upstairs. Percival, noticing Orson's terrified expression, calmly asked, "Did you learn anything?"
"Percival, you've married a brilliant woman! Have children! Her IQ is off the charts!" Orson exclaimed, his hands clasped, still reeling from Odalys's expertise. He corrected his earlier statement: "Her IQ is too high."
Percival frowned, rubbing his temples. "She's only twenty years old."
"So what? Odalys is impressive! Keep her! Don't let her get away, or you'll be single forever!" Orson declared before leaving.
Percival remained silent, watching Orson go. He then lowered his eyes to his document, murmuring, "Picky."
In the hospital's VIP ward, Finnian lay in bed, his bandaged hand throbbing from a phone explosion.
Seeing Henry hang up, he asked urgently, "Mr. Bennett, did my brother agree?"
"He clearly looks down on the Bennetts, but he's right about one thing: if we can't talk to Percival, we'll target Odalys. Her agreement settles this," Henry said coldly. He planned to use their unfinished contract to manipulate Odalys or forge a new one to keep her tied to the Bennetts.
"I doubt you'll have a chance. She films the second half of the variety show tomorrow. Afterward, her contract with Bennett Group expires," Finnian said, aware Odalys wouldn't renew.
"She won't leave the Bennett Group," Henry insisted, a sharp pain in his chest reminding him of Odalys's actions. He stumbled back onto the sofa.
Sophia entered, carrying food, her worried expression evident. Henry recoiled from her touch, asking stiffly, "Why are you here?"
Sophia, sensing his coldness, controlled her disappointment. "You haven't eaten much recently, so I brought you food."
Henry softened slightly; she was his beloved sister. Even though he didn't want her touch, her words eased his mood.
"There's something puzzling me," Sophia whispered, handing him the food and sitting beside him, her concern palpable.
Henry urged, "Tell me."
