Chapter 100

Naomi, wrapped in her blanket, was too lazy to open her eyes. The thought of "free foreplay"—how he'd even come up with that!—amused her. But after their argument, and the recent spate of fights, her resolve had weakened. Was she really sure she still wanted a child? And who knew if he'd change his mind and give her birth control pills tomorrow?

"Naomi!" Brendan's voice boomed, louder than before.

Naomi sighed heavily. He couldn't wake someone pretending to be asleep.

Seeing Naomi cocooned in her blanket, Brendan's face paled. He felt completely ignored. He picked up his discarded sleepwear, angrily pulled it on, and said, "Naomi, there will be no next time. Don't bring up having a child again."

Naomi kept her eyes closed. She'd tease him later. Besides, he still had his hands, didn't he? Last time, at the old Ludwig mansion, he'd consumed countless aphrodisiacs and still hadn't touched her. This time, he could handle it himself in the bathroom!

Naomi didn't usually hold grudges, but when she did, revenge was a must.

The next morning, Brendan was gone, as usual. While getting ready, she went downstairs for breakfast. Jennifer, the housekeeper, whispered, "Mrs. Ludwig, did you and Mr. Ludwig argue again last night? He seemed upset this morning and skipped breakfast."

Naomi replied nonchalantly, "I just had some fun with him last night."

Jennifer was speechless. She couldn't understand young people.

Brendan's foreplay, however, had ensured a dreamless, comfortable night's sleep. She'd gained a newfound appreciation for him. She'd expected him to be boring and self-centered in bed, but he was surprisingly skilled, far better than she imagined. His performance in a "real" situation, however, remained to be seen.

Naomi had a spring in her step. Jennifer remarked, "Mrs. Ludwig, you seem in a good mood today."

"It's alright," Naomi replied.

After breakfast, at the law firm, her department head called her over. "Naomi, we've received several cases, and the clients prefer you as their attorney. Come discuss them."

"Sure," Naomi agreed, suspecting Maximus's influence.

Putting her bag down, she was about to go to the department head's office when a colleague answered a phone call, then announced, "Ms. Goodwin, a call from Ludwig Corporation. Urgent legal matters."

The timing was impeccable.

The department head said, "Naomi, go to Ludwig Corporation first. We can discuss the other cases later."

"Alright," Naomi said, grabbing her bag.

Downstairs, she saw Brendan's black Maybach. Jason, his driver, opened the door. "Ms. Goodwin."

Naomi knew what Brendan was up to. She suspected the law firm's new cases, and it seemed Brendan wanted to prevent her involvement with Maximus.

The car started. Naomi smiled softly. "You have efficient informants." She hadn't even learned about the cases, yet Brendan had someone waiting downstairs.

Jason forced a smile. "Ms. Goodwin, I don't understand."

Naomi teased, "Keep acting."

Jason continued his forced smile. Only after Naomi dropped the subject did he speak again. "Ms. Goodwin, some higher-ups contacted Ludwig Corporation about the South Glistenville project."

Naomi's interest piqued. She turned to look at him.
