Chapter 85
Madelyn's shares would be managed by Henry. She had no objections, as she never participated in company affairs. She didn't care who controlled the shares, as long as she received the money. She trusted Henry; he wouldn't let her go hungry and would always consider her.
After reading the agreement, Madelyn stood beside Henry and said, "Dad, Henry is right. You should sign it!"
Henry's support reassured Elaine.
Clement frowned and said, "Henry, my heart has always been with this family, and the Sabella family's wealth will surely go to you and Madelyn. But I'm only 53. Don't you think it's too early for me to hand over the shares?"
Clement hadn't agreed, but Henry remained composed. "I'm not in a hurry. You can sign it whenever you want." However, he shouldn't even consider seeing Lily and the twins before signing.
Henry's calmness left Clement uncertain. Henry didn't say much, but Clement understood. He knew Henry was more ruthless and decisive than he was—a fact Clement had realized long before Henry reached adulthood. Furthermore, the Sabella Group's current success was largely due to Henry's efforts.
Weighing the pros and cons, and considering that Lily and the twins were still in Henry's hands, Clement said in a trembling voice, "I'll sign it now."
Madelyn immediately handed him the pen. Although Elaine was angry and resentful, she didn't dare to speak out while Henry was taking action. Besides, with Lily in Henry's hands, she'd have plenty of opportunities to vent her frustrations later.
After signing, Clement asked, "Henry, I've signed. Can you return Lily and the twins?"
Henry interrupted, "You'll see them once the ownership transfer is complete."
Seeing Henry wouldn't elaborate, Clement, feeling exhausted, left.
Once Clement left, Elaine wept and complained about the hardships of the past years. Madelyn, also in tears, consoled her. Looking at Henry, Madelyn asked, "Henry, aren't you angry with Dad for doing such a terrible thing?"
Henry calmly replied, "Getting angry won't change anything. Resolving the issue is most important." Turning to Elaine, he said, "Mom, compose yourself. Tomorrow morning, we'll hold a press conference to clarify tonight's events as a misunderstanding. You were manipulated and misled."
Elaine's tears stopped, and she looked up at him.
He explained, "The company's interests are paramount."
"I understand," Elaine replied.
After resolving family matters, Henry left home to deal with the fallout from the evening's events. As the car started, a sinister smile appeared on his face.
"Naomi, things are getting more and more interesting."
As Naomi entered the house, Ronald dropped his phone—he'd been playing games—and rushed to hug her. "Naomi, I'm finally seeing a living person!"
Naomi looked at him with disdain. "Alright, don't look at me like a dog seeing a bone." She then asked, "Are you planning to hide here forever?"
Ronald helped her with her bag and massaged her back. "If I can hide here with you forever, I won't go back to that damn place."
Naomi asked, "You've been back a while, and no one's found out? Didn't Mason report you?"
"Mason's secretly returned too," Ronald said. "Don't worry! We've arranged everything."
Naomi was dumbfounded, wondering how Brendan would react if he discovered they'd both secretly returned. Nevertheless, she let Ronald massage her shoulders and asked, "Why are you being so nice?"
