Chapter 1076:
โShe could rest in peace there. You truly were a devoted cousin,โ Jayden said with a sigh. Elyse rested quietly, eyes shut, and soon drifted off to sleep. Feeling the warmth of the person next to him, Jayden, too, felt secure and quickly fell asleep. At noon, Elyse awoke and went to the kitchen to check the fridge for ingredients, intending to prepare a simple lunch. She made a few dishes, and just as she was setting the table, Jayden and Garret came downstairs. Elyse looked up and commented, โI was about to call you both. I didnโt expect you to be lured down by the aroma.โ Garret surveyed the table and noted, โThis isnโt enough for me. Could you prepare some more?โ Elyse felt a bit embarrassed. โWeโre running low on supplies. I canโt make any more.โ Taken aback, Garret looked at Jayden and inquired, โCould we get the supply driver to bring us some groceries?โ Jayden spread his hands. โI canโt help; Iโve lost my phone.โ Garret then turned and headed upstairs to get his phone. Elyse turned to Jayden. โIโm stuck here for now, so I guess Iโll just stay and cook for you.โ Jayden responded, โThanks, Elyse. Once weโve dealt with those threats, youโll be able to go.โ Elyse nodded and then requested, โCould you do me a favor? Please let Edward know Iโm safe and that he shouldnโt worry.โ Jayden shook his head. โIโm unable to reach him, but you could ask Garret for help. Heโs well-acquainted with Edward.โ Just then, Garret came back downstairs. โEdward? Youโre acquainted with Edward?โ Elyse nodded. โYes. We met during a competition. I stayed at the Moon Palace for a while. He ensured my safety.โ Garret looked at Elyse skeptically. โHe is arrogant and unpleasant. Itโs quite astonishing that he allowed you to stay at the Moon Palace.โ Elyse expressed her curiosity, gazing at him. โLouise told me you had disappeared during the war, yet here you are, alive and well. Donโt you think you should let Louise know youโre fine?โ Garret raised an eyebrow. โLouise told you I was missing?โ Elyse confirmed with a nod. โExactly. She mentioned youโre her older brother, so thatโs how I know about you.โ . . .
