Chapter 1085:
Jayden, focused on the check-in process, didn't notice. They took the room key and led Elyse toward the elevator, still holding her hand. As the elevator doors closed, the receptionist picked up the phone and made a call. Meanwhile, Jayden ushered Elyse into their room. Although the room showed signs of age, it was sufficiently clean, and Jayden approved. โThis will be fine for our stay.โ
Elyse scoffed. โI didnโt expect you to be so particular.โ
Jayden sat down and responded casually, โIโm referring to you. Your particular ways are something Iโve gotten used to. I understand you quite well.โ
Elyse crossed her arms. โIโm not fussy at all. Donโt try to stick that label on me.โ
Jayden gestured for her to come closer. โCome here. Let me have a closer look at you.โ
โThereโs nothing to look at! Donโt even think about trying anything,โ Elyse said, turning her back.
Jayden laughed. โI just noticed a bug on you. I was going to help you remove it. What did you think I meant?โ
โAh! The bug?โ Elyse screamed, frantically patting her shoulder. โDonโt just stand there. Help me!โ She pleaded, but Jayden remained motionless.
Elyseโs anxiety soared as she saw him with his arms crossed and a sly smile. The realization dawned on her.
โYou tricked me?โ she accused.
โNot at all. Check your shoulder,โ Jayden replied, pointing gently.
Paralyzed with fear, Elyseโs anger vanished. โIโm terrified of bugs. Please, get it off!โ
Jayden nonchalantly flicked her shoulder, dispatching a tiny insect. โBugs are rampant in the spring,โ he noted.
Exhausted, Elyse collapsed onto the bed with a heavy sigh. โWhy on earth are there bugs in whatโs supposed to be a clean hotel room?โ
โDonโt worry. Iโll hold you tonight while we sleep; everything will be alright,โ Jayden reassured her.
This prompted Elyse to sit up and glare at him. โDonโt even think about taking advantage of me. Iโll kick you out of bed if you try anything funny.โ
Jayden raised an eyebrow. โAnd what if I do try something? What will you do then?โ
Elyse, at a loss for words, branded him a scoundrel in her mind. Too drained to argue, she rose and strode toward the bathroom, intending to unwind with a hot shower.
