Chapter 1088:

Relief flooded her as Jayden appeared. She let out a soft whimper. โ€œJayden, save me.โ€

Jaydenโ€™s expression darkened with concern. โ€œAre you okay?โ€

He noticed the peculiar flush on her face and the longing in her eyes, but stayed focused on the immediate threat. โ€œWhere did they go?โ€ he demanded.

Her voice trembled. โ€œTheyโ€™re out to get you. That woman vowed to rape you before killing you.โ€

โ€œHow many of them are there?โ€ Jayden pressed.

โ€œJust two. A hefty man and the female receptionist we encountered at the entrance,โ€ Elyse explained.

Jayden looked around, taken aback. โ€œSo theyโ€™ve actually gone to find me.โ€ He realized the keys to Elyseโ€™s cage were probably with them.

After a thoughtful pause, Jayden declared, โ€œIโ€™ll confront them and secure the key. Once I have it, Iโ€™ll return and free you. Wait here for me.โ€

โ€œWait!โ€ Elyse called out, stopping him. He turned, his brow furrowed. โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter?โ€

Elyseโ€™s lips parted, words teetering on the edge of her tongue. She wanted to confess her deep need for him, her desire for his touch, and her yearning for a passionate embrace. But the words wouldnโ€™t come. Shame played its part, but more than that, she couldnโ€™t bear to admit that, even post-divorce, she was still profoundly entwined with Jayden.

After a momentโ€™s struggle, she mustered, โ€œItโ€™s nothing. Go ahead.โ€

Jayden, unaware of her internal conflict, assured her, โ€œWith them on my tail, youโ€™re actually safest in the cage. Donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll handle this and come back for you.โ€

Elyse licked her dry lips, battling her burgeoning desires. โ€œAlright, hurry back.โ€

Jayden nodded, his steps quickening as he headed back toward the hotel room.

Just as he closed the bathroom door, a knock resonated at the front door.

The receptionistโ€™s cheery voice floated through. โ€œHello, sir. As a token of our appreciation for your patronage, the hotel has prepared a complimentary late-night snack. We invite you to indulge.โ€

Jayden opened the door and was greeted by the receptionist, who stood there with a cart. On it lay crispy fried chicken, golden fries, and a frosty bottle of beer.

Jayden raised an eyebrow. โ€œCome on in.โ€

Turning her back, the receptionist shot a covert glance at the bulky man lurking nearby, then nudged the cart into the room. She pretended to shut the door but left it ajar.
