Chapter 1112:
Elyse stood before him, her expression stern and foreboding; a dark aura almost visible around her. Attempting to lighten the mood, Edward chuckled awkwardly. โI was just joking. Donโt get upset. I have my own room booked. Iโll go to sleep now.โ
Elyse tilted her head, her voice laced with restrained fury. โIโve told you, Iโm going to sleep. Keep up the noise, and Iโll have you thrown out of this hotel.โ
With that, Edward cast his eyes downward and slunk away, his spirit crushed. In Elyseโs presence, he seemed to lose all his vigor.
As he departed, Elyse sighed with relief. She closed the door, retreated to her bedroom, and immediately succumbed to sleep.
The following noon, as Elyse sluggishly awoke, she noticed Jayden and Edward impeccably dressed, their outfits crisp and stylish. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, she slumped into a chair, eyeing them curiously. โWhatโs this? Looks like youโre headed to a grand affair,โ she queried.
Edward cleared his throat, his eyes lighting up with excitement. โI spent all night planning. This town is just perfect for a romantic outing.โ Clearly, Edward had dressed to impress for a special date.
Elyse turned her gaze to Jayden, who was just as finely attired. After a brief pause, she dismissed them. โGo on your date then. Donโt linger here on my account.โ
โIโm not going on a date with him!โ Jayden and Edward protested in unison.
Jayden glanced at Edward with scorn and muttered, โAs if Iโd associate with someone as flashy as this. Itโs simply beneath me.โ
Edward snorted in response. โI certainly wouldnโt choose it either.โ Then, turning towards Elyse with a hopeful grin, he ventured, โElyse, Iโve dreamed of taking you out. When will you grant me a few moments to charm you?โ
Elyse averted her gaze, her voice steady and cool. โThat opportunity will never arise. Itโs time you gave up.โ
Stunned, Edward felt as though his heart had cracked.
While Jayden seemed to relish Edwardโs dismay, Elyse hadnโt overlooked him either. She firmly stated, โAnd you shouldnโt get your hopes up either. Today, I wish to venture out alone. Do not tag along.โ
Considering their flamboyant attire, she cringed at the thought of the stares they would attract if she were seen with them. Preferring solitude to the potential spectacle, Elyse declared, yawning, โAlright, both of you, out. Iโm changing.โ
Elyse stepped out of her room, wrapped in a windbreaker and carrying a handbag. Jayden and Edward stood on either side of the doorway, purposely keeping their distance and avoiding eye contact. The silence between them was palpable.
