Chapter 1125: Georgeโs piercing stare bore into her. โWhy that piece? What do you know about it?โ Instead of answering, Elyse countered, โSince youโre here, how about I play something else for you?โ Georgeโs brow furrowed. โWhat are you playing at?โ Elyseโs smile never wavered. โViolin Concerto in E Minor,โ she announced. As the first notes soared, Georgeโs eyes widened in shock. Anthony looked on, bewildered by his fatherโs intense reaction to the admittedly beautiful piece. The crunch of tires heralded new arrivals. Jayden and Edward pulled up, drawn in by the music. โSee? I knew sheโd be here,โ Jayden remarked smugly. Edwardโs face hardened. โFine, you were right,โ he ground out. Jayden exited the car with fluid grace. โItโs not about being right. I simply understand her.โ His casual confidence grated on Edward, whose irritation simmered beneath the surface. As they entered the yard, both men stopped short. George stood before them, tears streaming down his weathered cheeks. Their jaws dropped; they were unable to understand why the old man was crying. Elyse lowered her bow, surprise etched across her features. She had hoped to move George, but the depth of his emotion caught her off guard. Georgeโs uncontrolled sobbing sent a shock of panic through Elyse. In a desperate tone, she turned to Anthony. โGet your dad some tissues, please!โ Startled, Anthony quickly rushed inside for some tissues. George seemed lost in his thoughts. After a short while, he looked at Elyse. โIโm so sorry. I need to rest now. Can we continue this conversation tomorrow?โ Realizing George was too overwhelmed, Elyse nodded. โWeโll talk tomorrow, then.โ Elyse passed the violin back to Anthony and watched as he helped George back to the cabin. Elyse hesitated, touching her head, wondering whether her approach had been helpful or had made things worse. . . .
