Chapter 1158:

Elyse laughed. โ€œNo way. Think of it as sponsoring your love life. Dating costs money, Anthony. You need to earn more if you want to marry her in the future! You canโ€™t run a business like this.โ€

Edward walked up, nodding. โ€œSheโ€™s right. That violin is expensive. Itโ€™s only fair to take some payment. Plus, you two need to be practicalโ€”youโ€™ve got a life to build.โ€

Anthony hesitated. Edwardโ€™s reasoning swayed him. He pulled out his phone, blinked in surprise. โ€œThis much? Itโ€™s double the price!โ€

Elyse shrugged. โ€œNo problem. Iโ€™m supporting your love life. Make some extra cash so you can buy gifts for your future girlfriend.โ€

Anthony scratched his head. โ€œToo much, really. How about returning part of it?โ€

Elyse stepped forward, patting his shoulder. โ€œIโ€™ve got to go. Iโ€™ll swing by later. Thanks for everything, Anthony. Youโ€™ve taken such good care of me these past few weeks.โ€

After bidding Anthony farewell, Elyse and Jayden slipped into the car.

As the city blurred, Elyseโ€™s heart felt like a cloud that refused to drift away.

Silence stretched between them, thick as the fog before dawn, until she whispered, โ€œNext time we meet, itโ€™ll likely be at Anthonyโ€™s wedding, right?โ€

Jaydenโ€™s eyes stayed fixed on the road. Edward broke the silence, his tone casually optimistic. โ€œAnthony seems inexperienced. If that nurse can be patient with him, maybe itโ€™ll work out.โ€

Elyse nodded thoughtfully. Then, turning to Jayden, she asked, โ€œWhere are we headed now?โ€

Without turning, Jayden answered coolly, โ€œWe need to head back. Iโ€™ve got unfinished business.โ€

Elyse hesitated, then asked, โ€œDo you all really intend to keep up the conflict?โ€

Edward spoke, his words dripping with quiet resignation. Elyseโ€™s gaze fell on Jaydenโ€™s stoic profile. Her voice barely a whisper, she asked, โ€œWhen will it end?โ€

Jaydenโ€™s reply came slow, deliberate, as if unearthing ancient truths. โ€œIt ends when peace decides to arrive.โ€ The resolution was clearโ€”peace was not promised, but a distant hope. The conflict would continue, its end uncertain and far away.

They drove with the steady determination of a man who refused rest, pushing the night deeper into itself.

Elyseโ€™s thoughts swirled, making sleep elusive. Edward, however, brimmed with an odd energy, his words tumbling out in a stream of ideas ranging from history to future technology.

Elyse, caught in the whirlwind of Edwardโ€™s enthusiasm, finally interrupted, smiling. โ€œYouโ€™ve asked so many questions, Iโ€™m struggling to keep up.โ€
