Chapter 1167:
After a pause, Louise asked curiously, โYou donโt have feelings for Edward?โ
Elyse responded decisively, โI never did. And now, heโs stopped pursuing me. Heโs chosen to just be a friend.โ
โFor real?โ Louise sounded pleased. โSo, you two are really just friends now?โ
โItโs true. Why would I lie?โ Elyse chuckled.
Louise said, โAlright. Iโll get moving. You want to slip past Edwardโs watch and get to Garretโs base, right? Leave it to me.โ
Elyse expressed concern. โAre you sure you can help me evade Edwardโs men?โ
Louise responded with assurance, โDonโt underestimate me. Iโm every bit as skilled as Chesney or Garret. Iโve always kept a low profile and havenโt shown them my abilities. Just wait. I wonโt disappoint you.โ
Elyse touched her nose thoughtfully and asked, โWhen should I expect an update? Edwardโs planning to take me back to Moon Palace tomorrow.โ
Louise said, โIโll help you escape before dawn.โ
Elyse said, โAlright, Iโll wait for your signal.โ
After ending the call, Elyse bowed respectfully in Edwardโs direction. โSorry, Edward, I know youโre trying to protect me, but I need to find answers myself. Otherwise, Iโll never understand my own feelings.โ
That evening, Elyse showered, packed her bags, and waited for Louise. As night turned to morning, the door to her room silently opened. She left without a sound.
At noon, Edward awoke and went to remind Elyse to pack for their evening departure. He called to her several times without a reply. Normally, Elyse would have answered, but could she still be sleeping?
He called Elyse, but her phone was off. Unaware of the situationโs gravity, he assumed she was asleep. He figured sheโd leave on her own, especially since she didnโt know Jaydenโs location.
To give her more time, Edward returned to his room. Returning an hour later, he found no answer. He sensed something was wrong.
He asked the hotel staff to open her door; the room was empty. Edward touched the bed; it was cold. Elyse must have left long ago.
After a quick search, Edward concluded Elyse had likely gone to find Jayden. He immediately sent people to look for her and messaged Jayden, warning him that Elyse might arrive.
Unbeknownst to Edward, Elyse was in a helicopter with Louise, who held a walkie-talkie. Feeling the wind and the helicopterโs noise, Elyse said, โIs it really necessary to be this extravagant just to find Garret?โ . . .
