Chapter 1267:
โCompany and solitude are both parts of life,โ Darren remarked softly.
Elyse nodded, and they continued walking toward the mall, where they planned to buy souvenirs. On their way, they saw someone playing the piano on the street. The pianist looked familiar, prompting Elyse to tug on Darrenโs arm.
It was David.
โWhatโs the matter? Do you know him?โ Darren whispered, noticing Elyseโs surprise.
โYes, heโs an acquaintance,โ Elyse nodded. โWould you mind if I borrowed your violin?โ
Darren understood and handed it to her. Elyse approached David, patiently counted the beats, and seamlessly merged her violin melody with his piano notes.
David, startled, looked up. Recognizing Elyse, he smiled and continued playing. Together, they created a beautiful harmony, captivating the gathering crowd.
Darren, feeling an irresistible urge to join, took out his new violin and began to play. A bystander recognized Elyse and Darren and requested more pieces. They turned to David.
โAn intriguing chorus indeed,โ David remarked.
โI would be honored to perform a few more numbers. Perhaps a Gavotte?โ
โWith pleasure!โ Darren and Elyse responded.
The music swelled. As the trio played, they didnโt notice Rebecca approaching. Dressed in a gauzy beret, an emerald dress, and heels, she moved through the crowd, her eyes fixed on them.
The group finished their set to thunderous applause, with Rebecca joining in enthusiastically. As the last notes faded and they packed up, the crowd thinned, but Rebecca remained.
โA truly magnificent performance!โ she exclaimed, smiling.
Elyseโs heart skipped a beat. A cold sweat broke out as she grasped Darrenโs wrist and pulled him forward.
โWhat are you doing here?โ she asked, her eyes widening.
โIโm just picking up a few souvenirs as Iโm leaving the country soon,โ Rebecca responded casually. She noticed their tense expressions and laughed softly. โYou both look terrified. Am I that intimidating?โ
