Chapter 1318:

โ€œYou must remember that neither you nor your father are true Bensons by blood. I took him in from an orphanage. I gave him the opportunity to marry and to have you.โ€

She paused, then added, โ€œI transformed your entire familyโ€™s fate. Yet, because you didnโ€™t receive the company shares, you chose to hurt others. Iโ€™m deeply disappointed.โ€

Pearce interjected, his voice firm, โ€œYouโ€™re upset about not getting the shares, but remember, she left you money and apartments. She even ensured your allowance was paid promptly and found a suitable partner for you. How could she overlook the good youโ€™ve done for her? Your greed, both you and your fatherโ€™s, knows no bounds.โ€

Thea bit her lip, remaining silent. The weight of the words hung heavy and uncomfortable in the air. After a long silence, she stood up and rushed out of the room.

As she stormed out, Pearceโ€™s anger deepened.

โ€œWhat does she think sheโ€™s doing, running off like that? I should go and bring her back.โ€

Felicia sighed, shaking her head.

โ€œNo, let her be. Her presence here only aggravates me further.โ€

She turned to Elyse and said gently, โ€œElyse, would you like to stay for dinner tonight? We never had a chance to share a proper meal together.โ€

Elyse looked at Felicia and saw a hint of eagerness in her eyes.

โ€œYes, I would like to.โ€

A smile spread across Feliciaโ€™s face.

โ€œWonderful. Iโ€™ll ask the cook to prepare your favorite dishes. Letโ€™s enjoy a nice dinner together.โ€

Felicia felt a genuine sense of happiness from having so many people around her. Elyse could tell the old lady was truly lonely.

โ€œGrandma, could we move somewhere private to talk?โ€ Elyse suggested.

Felicia nodded and led Elyse to a study at the back of the house.

Once inside, Elyse closed the door and helped Felicia into a chair.

โ€œGrandma, are you truly planning to give the shares to me? I think Thea might be right. Sheโ€™s been taking care of you, and I havenโ€™t really done anything for you. It doesnโ€™t seem fair for me to receive the shares.โ€

Felicia gently patted Elyseโ€™s hand, her gaze tender and unwavering.

โ€œThereโ€™s no one more deserving than you, my dear.โ€

Elyse shook her head, her voice tinged with humility. โ€œBut Grandma, I donโ€™t feel worthy of these shares. I havenโ€™t been by your side the way Thea has. Despite her intentions, sheโ€™s cared for you all these years. I canโ€™t hold a candle to that.โ€

A wistful smile graced Feliciaโ€™s face as she reached out to caress Elyseโ€™s cheek, her touch filled with unspoken affection. Elyseโ€™s features reflected memories of her son, Rickey.

โ€œTrue, you havenโ€™t been hereโ€”neither in presence nor proximityโ€”but every time youโ€™ve stood before me, the bond between us has been undeniable,โ€ Felicia sighed, her voice heavy with emotion.
