Chapter 1352:

Elyse nestled into her chair, fine-tuned her headphones, and plunged into the session. Once the initial pleasantries were exchanged, the floor opened to audience calls. The host adeptly managed several calls, with Elyse weaving through each conversation with aplomb. She even serenaded a fan with a spontaneous melody, much to their delight. As the show neared its finale, the host welcomed the final caller.

โ€œHello, how would you like me to address you?โ€ the host inquired, his voice warm and welcoming.

โ€œJust Mr. S,โ€ the caller replied tersely.

The host, a flicker of confusion crossing his features, continued. โ€œVery well, Mr. S, whatโ€™s on your mind for Elyse?โ€

A brief hush fell before the caller ventured, โ€œIโ€™m curious, Elyse, do you still harbor feelings for your ex-husband?โ€ Elyseโ€™s smile faltered.

The host, caught off guard, intervened swiftly. โ€œLetโ€™s keep the questions light, shall we? Perhaps something less personal?โ€

The caller hesitated, then offered, โ€œFair enough. So, Elyse, had we met first, might you have been interested in me?โ€

The hostโ€™s brows knitted. โ€œWeโ€™re veering off course. One more question like this, and weโ€™ll have to move on.โ€

Elyse, hearing the callerโ€™s voice, felt a wave of vague recognition. It sounded so familiar yet elusive. Clearly, Mr. S had some connection to her. Could it be Theo? But the voice didnโ€™t sound like Theoโ€™s.

With cautious curiosity, Elyse inquired, โ€œAre we acquainted?โ€

โ€œYes, we are,โ€ the caller replied, his voice a gentle murmur.

โ€œAnd are we friends?โ€ she probed.

โ€œYes,โ€ he affirmed softly.

After a contemplative pause, Elyse asked, โ€œThen why ask if I would have liked you first?โ€

โ€œBecause Iโ€™ve found myself quite taken with you,โ€ the man confessed, his tone steady but layered with unspoken emotion. โ€œThereโ€™s always someone shielding you, keeping me at bay. Itโ€™s a thorn in my side.โ€

Elyse remained silent, pondering his words. As the host considered cutting the call short, she finally spoke. โ€œItโ€™s difficult to say whether I would have preferred you to Jayden had we met first. Such a scenario is purely hypothetical. My feelings for my ex-husband didnโ€™t develop overnight; they grew steadily, nurtured by time and deepening bonds of love.โ€

The caller probed, โ€œSo, if it had been me instead, you might have shown some interest?โ€
