Chapter 1400

Dolores nodded, prompting Lowell to help her remove her oxygen mask. In a raspy voice, she asked, "Has Shaun visited me?"

Without opening his eyes, Lowell replied indifferently, "He's lost his memory. He doesn't recognize his own parents, let alone visit you. Focus on healing."

Dolores's eyes widened in shock. "He doesn't remember anything at all, not even me? What does he remember, then? Surely not just Tracy?"

A harsh coughing fit wracked her body, each cough tearing through her chest. Lowell gently replaced the oxygen mask. Her pallor faded as she inhaled deeply, the feverish redness gradually receding.

After a moment, her breathing steadied, and Lowell removed the mask. Dolores reached out, clutching his hand. Her eyes, rimmed with exhaustion and desperation, pleaded with urgency. "Please takeโ€ฆ Shaun. He must be so scared and vulnerable. I need to be with him."

Lowell sighed, frustration softening to concern. "You just woke up. You need to rest and recover," he said gently but firmly.

Dolores shook her head, her voice breaking with determination. "No! He needs me. I can't just lie here while he's alone."

Lowell closed his eyes briefly, then leaned forward, gently pressing her back onto the bed and replacing the oxygen mask. His tone turned serious. "Dolores, listen. The police will be here tomorrow. They need to ask you some questions."

Confusion clouded her expression as she stared at him, her brows furrowed. Lowell lowered his voice. "The car crash wasn't an accident. Someone tried to kill you. The police will need your statement. But for now, you need to rest."

Dolores closed her eyes weakly, exhaustion and unwillingness warring on her face. Seeing her stubbornness, Lowell suppressed his irritation. "I'll go talk to Shaun. I'll bring him here to see you," he promised.

Her eyes flew open, filling with tears. "Tell him," she whispered, her voice cracking, "Tell him I love him more than anything."

Lowell let out a bitter laugh. Without another word, he left the room.
