Chapter 314:

Elyse was preparing gifts for her friends, grateful for their support, when her phone rang insistently. Despite her urge to ignore it, Mabelโ€™s relentless calls forced her to answer.

โ€œWhy are you calling?โ€ Elyse asked, her brow furrowed, irritation coloring her tone.

โ€œI jumped off a building because of you,โ€ Mabelโ€™s sarcastic voice replied. โ€œAnd you wonโ€™t even visit? How could I have such a cold-blooded sister?โ€

Setting down her sheet music, Elyseโ€™s voice turned icy. โ€œYou jumped because of me? Are you saying I forced you to commit suicide?โ€

โ€œWasnโ€™t I?โ€ Mabel retorted, her lips twisted in disdain. โ€œWhy couldnโ€™t I use your work? You werenโ€™t going to release it anyway!โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve opened my eyes,โ€ Elyse said, anger lacing her voice.

Mabelโ€™s tone softened. โ€œIf you still consider me your sister, come to the hospital. I need to tell you something important.โ€

โ€œI wonโ€™t,โ€ Elyse refused immediately.

โ€œDo you want me dead?โ€ Mabelโ€™s voice rose. โ€œThe internetโ€™s cursing me! Do you want me to die? Then I might as well end it now!โ€

Exhausted, Elyse rubbed her temples. She didnโ€™t want to deal with Mabel, but the thought of another suicide attempt made her relent. โ€œWhat do you want to discuss?โ€

โ€œCome to the hospital. Iโ€™ll explain then,โ€ Mabel said, abruptly ending the call.

Elyse, somber, grabbed her coat and left. Driscoll, noticing her grim expression and departure, voiced his concern. โ€œConsidering your recent knee injury, perhaps you should stay.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll be fine,โ€ Elyse assured him, waving away his worry. โ€œI need to see my sister at the hospital. I wonโ€™t be long.โ€

Driscoll, silent this time, instructed the driver to prepare the car. At the hospital, Elyse followed Mabelโ€™s directions to the back entrance. Finding herself alone, she frowned. โ€œWhat did you want to discuss?โ€

Mabel met her gaze solemnly, beckoning her closer. Then, under Elyseโ€™s questioning stare, she smiled. โ€œCould you lend me eighty million?โ€

Elyse gasped. โ€œEighty million? Why?โ€

โ€œI owe my agency eighty million because of you,โ€ Mabel accused. โ€œYour actions got me banned, and now I owe liquidated damages. Itโ€™s all your fault!โ€

Elyse seethed. โ€œYouโ€™re still as stubborn as ever. Youโ€™ve learned nothing.โ€

Mabel tilted her head, her smile innocent yet cold. โ€œSo you wonโ€™t help me, even with your wealthy husband?โ€

Elyse remained silent.

As Mabelโ€™s smile faded, desperation replaced the cold composure in her eyes. โ€œIf Dad finds out about my debt, heโ€™ll kill me.โ€

Elyseโ€™s lips tightened. โ€œAnd you think I should rescue you? Dream on. Youโ€™re hardly worthy of being called my sister. You deserve damnation.โ€

Mabelโ€™s voice was raw with intensity, her eyes darting around. โ€œDonโ€™t let her escape.โ€

Elyse, alone, felt a presence behind her. A hand clamped over her mouth, silencing her protest to a whimper.

Mabel grinned maniacally. โ€œYour gameโ€™s up, Elyse. But your demise will net me eighty million.โ€

Before she could continue, a black car pulled up. Two men quickly ushered Elyse inside; two others went to Mabel.

Mabel assumed they were there to help her financially. But they seized her arms and dragged her toward the car, ignoring her injured leg. Crying out in pain, she pleaded, โ€œWhy are you taking me? Take Elyse instead!โ€

Bound and gagged in the car, Elyse seethed, shocked by Mabelโ€™s foolish and malicious actions.
