Chapter 366:

Cody paused mid-signature, a thoughtful expression fleeting across his features before he resumed. With a hint of wistfulness, he passed the notebook to Driscoll, saying, โ€œI never expected someone to remember him.โ€

Driscoll smiled warmly. โ€œMy wife has vivid memories of him. She often spoke of the performance that propelled you both to fame.โ€

Codyโ€™s memories flooded back. That performance held unparalleled significance; without it, he wouldn't be who he was.

โ€œWho is he? Another violinist?โ€ Elyse asked, her curiosity piqued.

Cody, reaching for his coffee, nodded thoughtfully. โ€œWe once shared an instructor. He was someone I both admired and hated.โ€

โ€œAdmired and hated?โ€ Elyse echoed, puzzled.

Cody nodded. โ€œI hated his carefree nature, despite his remarkable talent. He found joy in playing on the street for anyone who would listen.โ€ He paused, his tone softening with nostalgia. โ€œBut what I admired most was his philosophy.โ€

โ€œWhat philosophy?โ€ Elyse pressed, intrigued.

โ€œHe believed music should be accessible to all, capable of touching every soul,โ€ Cody explained. โ€œBack then, I prioritized technical prowess. I believed music belonged solely in concert halls, not the streets.โ€

โ€œAnd what happened next?โ€ Elyse asked, her surprise evident.

โ€œSubsequently, I lost my way. He guided me back.โ€ A smile touched Codyโ€™s lips as he reflected.

Elyse was astonished by the complexity of Codyโ€™s past. After a moment of silence, Cody turned to her. โ€œYou and he share a resemblance, not just in appearance, but in your approach to music. The difference lies in your ambitions. He was content to play anywhere; you strive for the stage.โ€

Elyse scratched her head bashfully. โ€œBut Iโ€™m not him. I have my own dreams.โ€

Cody nodded knowingly. โ€œIt would be wonderful if he were still around. Iโ€™m sure heโ€™d hold you in high regard.โ€ A soft smile played on Elyseโ€™s lips.

Standing, Cody said, โ€œI must attend to my other guests. I wonโ€™t keep you. Be punctual tomorrow.โ€

โ€œI will. See you tomorrow,โ€ Elyse replied before departing with Driscoll.

Exiting the studio, Driscollโ€™s face lit up with relief. He turned to Elyse. โ€œFrom this day forward, Cody Tucker will be your mentor. Letโ€™s celebrate tonight!โ€

Elyseโ€™s smile held a hint of disbelief. โ€œIt all feels surreal.โ€

Their chauffeur soon arrived. Unbeknownst to them, Jayden sat in a nearby cafรฉ, on the second floor. Finishing his conversation with Clive, his gaze drifted to the window, where he saw Elyse and Driscoll.

Clive, noticing Jaydenโ€™s distraction, sipped his coffee. Seeing nothing noteworthy, he asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s caught your attention?โ€

Jayden quickly looked away. โ€œJust spotted someone unexpected.โ€

โ€œWho?โ€ Clive pressed.

Jayden changed the subject. โ€œWhat are your thoughts on Owen Groupโ€™s sudden move against Bayzee Group?โ€

Clive frowned. โ€œSeems like a straightforward bid for market dominance.โ€

Jayden furrowed his brow. โ€œBut doesnโ€™t it seem odd? I canโ€™t shake the feeling theyโ€™re targeting me.โ€

Cliveโ€™s frown deepened. โ€œYou think theyโ€™ve discovered your role at Bayzee Group?โ€

Jayden leaned back casually. โ€œHard to say. But Bryce mentioned something interesting. After my grandfatherโ€™s private meeting with Debora, she was quickly given a significant responsibility. Do you think sheโ€™s being groomed as his successor?โ€

Clive reflected a moment. โ€œItโ€™s uncertain. Yet Enzo once envisioned you as his heir.โ€

Jaydenโ€™s expression soured. โ€œWell, I wonโ€™t be fulfilling that vision. Heโ€™s likely given up on me.โ€

Clive shrugged nonchalantly. โ€œThey could uncover your connection to Bayzee Group. If that happens, they might target you.โ€
