Chapter 372:
Elyse stormed back into the living room to confront Jayden, only to find his wheelchair positioned just out of her reach. Doubtful of his motives, she quickened her pace, but Jayden moved away just as quickly, maintaining a firm distance. Her teeth gritted in frustration as she chased him; he effortlessly avoided her, never letting her get close enough to touch him.
“Jayden, stop this, or I’ll get really mad!” Elyse exclaimed, hands on her hips, glaring at him. Her warning seemed ignored as he gave her a brief, dismissive look and continued to avoid her. Elyse was taken aback by his stubbornness.
Jayden wheeled himself back to his room. Driscoll, witnessing this, commented, “Keep in mind, calming him down when he’s upset is quite a challenge. It requires a lot of time, effort, and patience.”
Elyse’s face darkened. She paused, took a deep breath, and went upstairs. Driscoll watched them go, shaking his head. “One moment they’re all sweet, and the next, they’re at each other’s throats.”
Finding Jayden already in his pajamas, absorbed in reading on the bed's edge, Elyse asked, her voice tinged with skepticism, “How did you manage to change and get into bed from your wheelchair so quickly, considering your condition?”
Jayden didn't respond, his attention fixed on his book, ignoring her question as he turned a page. Elyse was shocked by his cold disregard. This level of silence was new, and the feeling of being completely ignored was awful.
Stepping in front of him, she gently nudged his arm, her voice uncertain. “Are you really ignoring me?”
Jayden subtly shifted, blocking further interaction. Sadness welled up in Elyse's eyes. “Please don’t be mad at me,” she pleaded.
But Jayden remained silent, his face impassive. Tears streamed down Elyse's cheeks, each sniffle a desperate plea for his attention. He remained focused on his book. A chill of fear ran through Elyse; her heart raced. Could it be that Jayden would never forgive her?
In a desperate attempt to get his attention, she climbed onto the bed and straddled his lap. “Stop reading and look at me,” she insisted.
Jayden reluctantly raised his head, irritation clear in his eyes. “Get off,” he muttered sharply.
Elyse steadied herself, giving herself a mental pep talk. “It’s not my fault Theo’s out of control. I’m devoted to you, and you have no reason to be upset. You’re the only one who has my heart.”
Jayden snapped his book shut, crossed his arms, and said coldly, “Really? Exclusively mine? Prove it.”
Elyse panicked. How could she prove such a thing? Jayden remained quiet, his intense stare fixed on her. She grew more confused. What kind of proof did he want?
Jayden scoffed. “Can’t prove it, can you? That means you’re lying to me.”
Elyse’s eyes widened. Was he intentionally trying to start a fight? He kept accusing her of not loving him. Initially, Elyse was taken aback, thinking he was furious. But as the confrontation continued, her shock turned to frustration.
Suddenly, she grabbed his chin and kissed him forcefully, a wild kiss filled with anger and passion. She bit his lip fiercely. At first, Jayden was surprised by her aggression. He let her kiss him momentarily, but then realized how bad a kisser she was. He grabbed the back of her head and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close. He returned her kiss with equal passion, consuming her breath.
Now Jayden was in control, kissing her passionately until she collapsed against him, breathless. Her eyes were moist as she caught her breath, resting against his chest. After a moment, she whispered, “Does this show how much I love you?” Jayden raised an eyebrow skeptically. “Not even close.”
At that moment, Elyse understood the challenge reflected in Jayden’s guarded expression. Anxiety washed over her as she slowly unbuttoned her coat and slipped out of her dress. Soon, she was nearly naked.
Jayden stared at Elyse’s body. Her beauty was undeniable, enhanced by her response to his touch. “Is this how you choose to show your love?” he asked deliberately.
A deep blush spread across Elyse’s cheeks. She hesitated, her fingers lingering on the clasp of her bra. Jayden took a step back, his tone firm. “If you’re not sure, get dressed. Don’t behave as if I’m pressuring you.”
Elyse paused, her lips parting slightly. With shaky hands, she unhooked her bra. Her breasts came into view, and Jayden’s gaze intensified, his eyes turning a deep shade of passion as he reached for her. …
