Chapter 449:

In a Maybach, Jayden sat with a cigarette, smoke curling upwards. Tobin sat beside him, a black laptop resting on his lap. He typed rapidly, reporting, โ€œSir, the assassin who broke into your house last night was part of a foreign mercenary team. Their mission was to kill everyone in your household, including the dogs.โ€

He added, โ€œThey are incredibly ruthless.โ€

Jayden flicked ash from his cigarette and replied coolly, โ€œHave you identified who hired them?โ€

Looking embarrassed, Tobin admitted, โ€œNo, sir. The killers said they only accepted the job and have no information about the client.โ€

Jayden took a long drag, extinguishing the cigarette in the ashtray. He said indifferently, โ€œInform their employer that I want to make a deal.โ€

Tobin, understanding Jaydenโ€™s plan, asked in surprise, โ€œYou intend to hire them yourself?โ€

Jayden nodded. โ€œYes. If the mastermind is so elusive, I wonโ€™t waste time searching. Iโ€™ll have those killers eliminate him.โ€

โ€œUnderstood. Iโ€™ll arrange it immediately,โ€ Tobin replied, pulling out his phone.

Jayden returned to his wheelchair and exited the car. Heโ€™d been summoned to the Owen Group again, puzzling considering yesterdayโ€™s meeting ended in conflict. Theyโ€™d tried strong-arm tactics without success. What new approach could they possibly have?

Enzoโ€™s assistant greeted Jayden upon entering the building. Jayden frowned. โ€œHas my grandfather arrived?โ€

โ€œYes, heโ€™s been waiting for you. Please follow me upstairs.โ€

Jayden took the elevator to the chairmanโ€™s office. He found Enzo, in a black suit, casually sipping coffee. Enzo glanced at Jayden and asked bluntly, โ€œWhatโ€™s this about?โ€

Enzoโ€™s eyes held a mix of emotions, which Jayden sensed before Enzo masked them.

โ€œCome here, Jayden,โ€ Enzo said, indicating the space beside him. โ€œI want to talk.โ€

Jayden approached. โ€œGet to the point.โ€

Enzo studied him. โ€œDid you sleep well last night?โ€

Jayden grew alert. Last nightโ€™s events were tightly controlled; this shouldn't have leaked. Did his grandfather somehow know?

Jayden answered cautiously, โ€œYes.โ€

Enzo slammed the table. โ€œHow can you sleep! The shareholders were furious yesterday because of you. Are you trying to destroy the Owen Group?โ€

Jaydenโ€™s eyes showed doubt. His grandfather seemed genuinely angry about the shareholdersโ€™ meeting. Had last nightโ€™s assassination been unrelated?

Jayden responded cautiously, โ€œThe general shareholdersโ€™ meeting isn't my responsibility. You canโ€™t blame me.โ€

Enzo continued to pound the desk, then stated his point: he wanted the Bayzee Group to be a key player in expanding the Owen Groupโ€™s overseas market, but Jayden refused.

Enzo pressed, โ€œAre you absolutely refusing?โ€

Jayden responded firmly, โ€œIโ€™ve invested everything in the Bayzee Group. Iโ€™ve left the Owen Group. You can have everything.โ€ He tapped the desk. โ€œDo you plan to forcibly annex my business?โ€

Enzo, stern, stood. โ€œThatโ€™s enough. Since your car accident, youโ€™ve been useless to the Owen Group. Go back and donโ€™t show your face again.โ€

โ€œFine,โ€ Jayden replied, leaving without another word.

In the lobby, Jayden saw Corrie grabbing a womanโ€™s collar. โ€œShame on you! Brook is my man! Who are you to come looking for him? My father will have you deported.โ€

Lennie Walsh, the woman, responded weakly, โ€œBrook asked me to come. He said he missed me.โ€
