Chapter 531:

After some hesitation, Mabel summoned the courage to message Kaelyn about her problems. Once the message was sent, Mabel refrained from checking her phone, apprehensive about Kaelyn's potential disapproval.

She turned off her phone, closed her eyes, and settled back on the sofa, anxiously awaiting a reply. A few minutes later, her phone vibrated repeatedly, indicating messages from Kaelyn.

With cautious curiosity, Mabel retrieved her phone and read Kaelyn's messages. To her surprise, instead of criticism, Kaelyn expressed genuine concern. Kaelyn voiced astonishment at Mabel's circumstances and deep concern for her welfare. She even offered to help find a lawyer for Lanny.

Moved by Kaelyn's sincerity, Mabel called Kaelyn to express her heartfelt gratitude. Kaelyn answered with a soothing tone. "Are you alright? I received your message and sensed your distress."

Hearing Kaelyn's empathy, Mabel's tears flowed. "I'm completely lost. My mother is imprisoned by Elyse and Jayden, and my father faces jail time for causing a death. My future seems bleak. Kaelyn, what should I do?"

Kaelyn reassured her, "Don't worry. Your father told you to give a document to the lawyer, right? Find out what's in it, and then we can discuss things further after I find a suitable lawyer."

Mabel's voice trembled. "Kaelyn, you've been so kind. But Elyseโ€”that woman is repugnant. Despite living under our roof for years, she committed such a despicable act. Isn't she ungrateful? I'd be too ashamed to face anyone."

Hearing this, Kaelyn poured herself a glass of wine. "You harbor strong resentment toward Elyse. I believe you'll have a chance for revenge in the future."

"Where would I even find that chance? I'm a failure, about to lose my parents. What recourse do I have?" Mabel asked sadly, her eyes red.

Sipping her wine, Kaelyn nodded thoughtfully. "If you're willing, I'll do everything I can to help you. Elyse's actions are inexcusable. Despite being your elder sister, she disregarded your bond and tore your family apart. It's unbearable."

Kaelyn's words deeply resonated with Mabel. Kaelyn seemed to understand her better than anyone.

Filled with hope, Mabel asked, "Kaelyn, will you really help me? Aren't you afraid of retaliation from Elyse's husband?"

Kaelyn smiled reassuringly. "I fear no authority. Don't worry, I'm by your side. I'll handle it."

Overwhelmed, Mabel expressed her desire to be Kaelyn's sister. Kaelyn chuckled gently. "Silly girl, let's focus on your father's situation first."

Tears streaming down her face, Mabel nodded earnestly. "Sure, I trust you! From now on, in my heart, you are my sister. I disown Elyse."

Hearing Mabel's resolve, Kaelyn nodded with satisfaction and ended the call. Empowered by Kaelyn's support, Mabel felt a surge of confidence. She wiped away her tears and went to the master bedroom.

At the bedside table, she opened a drawer and found the document. Her eyes widened in astonishment. She hadn't expected Lanny to take such precautions.

Mabel photographed the document and quickly sent it to Kaelyn. Taken aback by its contents, Kaelyn replied promptly, "With this, things will be much easier. I'll let you know once I've secured a lawyer."

Mabel could hardly believe things were turning around so quickly. She gazed at the document, a sense of satisfaction spreading across her face. "With this, my father will definitely be released." . . .
