Chapter 541:

"Have you lost your mind?" Corrie exclaimed incredulously. "Louis is dead. Why on earth would I kneel and beg for his forgiveness?"

Her voice rising with anger, she continued, "And let's not forget, Louis died trying to save you. You think I'm unaware? He was in the car during your accident. He died because of you!"

Her accusations enraged Jayden. In a fit of fury, he grabbed her and forcefully pressed her head against Louis's tombstone. "Apologize now, or I'll leave you here all night."

"What's wrong with you?" Corrie retorted defiantly. "Why should I apologize? This is your fault, not mine. Don't you dare try to blame this all on me!" She instantly regretted calling Jayden for help, blaming her impulsive decision.

Earlier, as she left Enzo's residence, he had contacted her with a disturbing request: to do something drastic that would cause Elyse to miscarry. Corrie was puzzled. Why had Enzo shifted his target from Jayden to his unborn child? Despite her reservations, she knew she had to obey. She already knew Elyse was hospitalized with pregnancy complications.

Driven by her mission, Corrie planned to agitate Elyse enough to endanger the pregnancy, fulfilling Enzo's grim task. But she hadn't anticipated Jayden's outburst. His erratic behavior had escalated to the point of dragging her to the cemetery.

"Let me go!" Corrie screamed, her voice laced with fear and defiance. "You psycho! I'll kill you!" She thrashed against his grip, struggling to break free.

Annoyance flickered across Jayden's face as he shoved her away with a forceful kick. Despite wearing an expensive dress, Corrie crawled away. Once she had put some distance between them, she stood and cautiously observed him.

Jayden didn't look at her. He crouched down and touched Louis's tombstone. Louis's name and portrait adorned it, the young man's smile frozen in time. Despite the darkness obscuring Louis's features, Jayden traced the lines of his face.

Bitterness welled up inside him as he lingered. The anniversary of Louis's death had passed unnoticedโ€”a fact that now weighed heavily on him. He hadn't joined Peyton and their friends to pay their respects, unable to confront his grief. Tonight, however, circumstances had brought him here, to this solitary visit.

Gazing at the tombstone, Jayden muttered, "This is the woman you cared about. I've brought her here. She played a role in your death. And you know I'll never let her go."

With that, Jayden stood, shot a sneering glance at Corrie, and left.

Watching him go, Corrie breathed a sigh of relief. But then, fear gripped her. She gathered her dress and dashed after him. Seeing him get into his car without waiting, panic set in.

Corrie ran after him, calling, "Jayden Owen! Wait for me! Don't leave without me!"

But Jayden ignored her. He had only picked her up to take her to Louis's grave, not to drive her home. Corrie had sided with Enzo, and Jayden wouldn't treat his "ex-girlfriend" the same way anymore.

"Jayden! Jayden!" Corrie sprinted after the car, losing a high heel in her haste. She pursued him desperately, but his car disappeared around the corner.

A chill went through Corrie's heart. She glanced around nervously. The cemetery was eerily dark, and she couldn't bear to stay.

Pulling out her phone, she tried calling a friend for help, only to realize her Facebook post had already informed everyone she'd been seen getting into a man's car. Calling for help again meant everyone would know she'd been abandoned in the cemetery by morning.

Undeterred, she scrolled through her contacts, hoping to find someone who could rescue her.

Meanwhile, Jayden hurried back to the hospital. Entering the ward, he saw Peyton give him a knowing wink. He glanced at Elyse, who was asleep, before stepping out with Peyton.

As they reached the stairwell, Peyton angrily confronted him. "What were you thinking? Picking up Corrie Bates so late? Don't you think that's inappropriate? Aren't you concerned about Elyse and your unborn child?"

Jayden frowned. "Look, I needed to get even with Corrie. It's not what you think."

"Does it even matter what I think?" Peyton exploded. "You avoided explaining yourself and left Elyse again. Didn't you promise to treat her better?"
