Chapter 559:
Elyse gazed at Tracy's sleeping face when Driscoll knocked. "Mrs. Owen, we have a guest," he announced.
Rising, Elyse frowned. "At this hour? Who could it be?"
Driscoll shot a worried glance at Tracy without speaking.
Elyse followed him downstairs, surprised to find Shaun lounging on the sofa, with Jayden opposite him. Furious, she marched over in her slippers.
"Unbelievable! How dare you invade my home? And sit on my sofa! Who gave you permission?"
Shaun looked up, met her gaze, nonchalantly picked up a glass, and took a sip of water. "Your water is quite refreshing. Another, please?"
"The nerve! You have no shame!" Elyse snapped.
Jayden quickly guided her to sit beside him, trying to calm her. "He's here as a guest, Elyse. We can't throw him out."
"And why not?" Elyse retorted.
Shaun raised an eyebrow. "Because you've taken my wife. I'm here to bring her back."
Overwhelmed with anger, Elyse exclaimed, "Your wife? After all the misery you've caused her, you still dare call her that?"
Shaun sighed. "I know I've been harsh. My love for her overwhelmed me. I'm sorry."
Elyse scoffed, ignoring the apology. "Just leave. I won't hand Tracy over to someone who treats her so poorly. She's not a good match for you, and she doesn't deserve this."
Undeterred, Shaun asked, "Then whom do you suggest?"
"Dolores," Elyse replied firmly. "Your families are compatible; you have history. She's a better match."
Shaun acknowledged her point. "That may be true, but I don't accept it. Tracy is my wife, and the future mother of my children. I insist you return her to me."
Elyse found his words ridiculous. "Why on earth should I?"
He answered seriously, "She might be carrying my child. Does that change your mind?"
Elyse's anger flared; she looked ready to strike. Jayden restrained her, sighing wearily. Shaun, usually sophisticated, was behaving recklessly; his aggression caught Jayden off guard.
Jayden sighed again. "Tracy asked us to look after her. I understand how you feel, but we need to honor her wishes."
After a moment, Shaun said, "You're right. But where's Tracy? I need to talk to her."
"She's sleeping. Leave; you're only causing trouble," Elyse snapped.
"Then I'll need a room for the night," Shaun declared, nodding. "Prepare a guest room. I'm staying."
"Absolutely not! You need to leave!" Elyse retorted sharply.
Shaun countered firmly, "Show some respect to your guests. Moreover, if Tracy is carrying my child, I can't leave."
Elyse's frustration mounted.
Jayden arched an eyebrow. "Are you really planning to stay?"
Shaun challenged him, "I've heard you severed ties with the Owens. Surely, your house still has a guest room."
Jayden sneered. "Very well. Set up a guest room for him."
Elyse glared at Shaun, her disbelief palpable. How would she explain this to Tracy?
Jayden tried to soothe her. "Don't fret. We have bodyguards; Shaun won't make a scene. Let's see how things unfold tomorrow."
Unconvinced, Elyse said, "Tracy will not be pleased to find him here."
"We don't have much choice," Jayden explained. "They have a long history. And if Shaun's claim is trueโif Tracy is pregnantโshe might not be able to leave."
Elyse's anxiety intensified. "I hope she's not pregnant. Tracy plans to leave Watscar." ...
