Wiping tears from her face, Elyse said softly, "Don't kneel. Get up."

Desperate to make amends, Peyton refused to rise.

Elyse, unable to bear watching any longer, said angrily, "If you want to make amends, do something meaningful. Don't kneel here. Are you begging for my forgiveness to ease your conscience? Or are you trying to punish yourself?"

Tears streamed down Elyse's face, but she reached out to pull Peyton up. "If you feel guilty and want to make it right, seek justice for us. Don't hurt yourself in such a pointless way," she urged.

Clive nodded. "Elyse is right. Kneeling here for a month won't change anything. If you truly want redemption, take action."

With Clive's help, Peyton was lifted back into his wheelchair.

After a long pause, Peyton said emotionally, "Okay, I'll take my father's place as hospital director."

Clive was stunned. "I thought you didn't want to be a director. You never even wanted to be a doctor."

"Being a doctor is convenient for killing people," Peyton said calmly.

Looking at Peyton for a long time, Elyse finally asked, "Where is Jayden? How is he?"

"He's out of surgery. He's alive, but not awake yet," Peyton replied, looking directly at Elyse. "It's clear Enzo was targeting Jayden and his bloodline. Enzo didn't try to kill you because you're an Owen."

Peyton continued, "Although Brook saved Jayden this time, Enzo will try again. But not soon. His intentions have been exposed, and the Owen clan is on high alert. He won't act so openly again."

Elyse said calmly, "So next time, he'll be even more devious and secretive."

Peyton nodded. "That's true."

Clive, clenching his teeth, added, "The worst part is that Enzo has publicly declared Jayden's death, claiming everything Jayden owns will belong to the Owen clan."

Elyse was puzzled. "This is bizarre. Didn't the media report this?"

Clive shook his head. "Enzo bribed all the media. They're praising the Owen clan, ignoring Jayden."

Elyse realized how cunning and ruthless Enzo was.

After contemplating for a while, she said, "Enzo is fiercely protecting the Owen clan's legacy, refusing to let anyone tarnish its glory."

Peyton remained silent before sighing. "That's right. To Enzo, Jayden has become the enemy of the Owen clan's prestige."
