Chapter 604:

After Elyse left Glenda's ward, Peyton wanted to speak to her but hesitated several times.

Seeing his hesitation, Elyse crossed her arms. "If you have something to say, say it," she said.

Peyton scratched his head awkwardly. "Jayden wants to see you. He wants to know how someone he perceives as weak managed to overpower and pin down Mabel."

Elyse snorted coldly. "So I have to demonstrate it for him?"

As she spoke, the elevator doors opened. She walked out, arms crossed, with a cold, haughty expression, leaving Peyton and Irving to exchange bewildered looks.

"Is she still angry?" Irving asked uncertainly.

"Yes, and when she's angry, she gets a long face, just like Jayden," Peyton replied, equally uncertain.

Irving patted Peyton and smiled. "She's Jayden's wife. Of course she's like him."

Peyton sighed. "You don't get it. Dealing with Jayden is hard enough; another 'Jayden' is depressing."

Returning to her ward, Elyse lay back on the bed, crossed her arms, and tried to calm down.

Fifteen minutes later, the ward door opened. Jayden wheeled himself to her bedside.

Elyse cracked open her eyes, glanced at him, and asked indifferently, "What are you doing here?"

Jayden reached for and held her hand. "I came to see how you overpowered Mabel and beat her up."

Elyse snorted, clearly displeased. "Are you here to scold me?"

Jayden shook his head. "No, I'm here to see if you're injured."

Elyse curled her lips. "I wasn't defeated, so there's no need to worry."

Jayden chuckled and gently pinched her cheek. "Can't I be concerned when you fight someone?" he said with frustration.

Ignoring him, Elyse said, with dissatisfaction, "You're still a patient. Shouldn't you be resting instead of visiting me?"

"Hey!" Jayden, intrigued by her defiant look, cupped her face. He studied her for a moment. "Are you upset? Tell me what's bothering you. I'll help."

"I don't need your help." Pulling away, Elyse pointed to his abdominal bandage. "Focus on your recovery and stop wandering around. What if your wound gets infected?"

Jayden sighed. "I asked you to see me, but you refused."

"I just didn't want to," Elyse declared, wrapping herself in the covers.

Jayden gently tapped her head. "Are you really that upset?"

Elyse ignored him. He dismissed her dismissal, believing she was troubled by Mabel's actions.

After a short chat with Mabel, Glenda urged her to go home. Once Mabel left, Glenda decided to leave the hospital as well. She called Lanny.

He answered, still drinking. "What's up?" he slurred.

"Where are you? I'll come to you," Glenda said emotionlessly.

Lanny scoffed. "Why? You want a divorce. Stay away. Don't even think about my money."

Glenda's expression darkened. "I saw Elyse. She hates us. I think Janet told her everything about her parents."

Lanny took a gulp of beer. "So what? It doesn't matter. None of the ones I plan to kill will survive."

"Where are you? We need to talk. We can't let Janet live. She'll be a threat if she survives," Glenda stated firmly, her eyes ruthless.

Lanny raised his eyebrows. "What? Team up? Weren't you leaving?"

Glenda admitted, "If you fail, I'll be Elyse's next target. She won't let us go."

Lanny laughed loudly. "Alright, I'll give you an address. Come see me. I need to act soon. The sooner, the better."
