Chapter 619:
โImpossible!โ Freda retorted. โEven if heโs not bad, how could he compare to Theo?โ
Alena paused, realizing the intensity of Fredaโs feelings for Theo. It was clear Freda was infatuated.
Treading carefully, Alena ventured, โCould there be a twist? Maybe Gavin has qualities that surpass Theoโs.โ
โNot a chance. Gavinโs a nobody. He doesnโt even come close to Theo.โ
Alena chuckled. โWell, you clearly dislike Gavin. Iโm curious to meet him myself. I wonder if heโs really as bad as you say.โ
โHeโs absolutely terrible,โ Freda declared emphatically.
The next morning, Gavin entered the studio, violin case in hand. Inside, he found Cody sprawled on the couch, sipping coffee.
Cody, spotting Gavin, asked, โCan I get you a cup?โ
โThatโd be great,โ Gavin replied, setting down his case and joining Cody at the counter.
The studio door burst open. Gavin instinctively thought it might be Fiona, who had been absent for a few days. He turned to find Freda standing in the doorway, her gaze fixed on him.
Cody, noticing Freda, politely inquired, โPardon me, but who are you?โ
Freda smiled brightly. โYou must be Cody Tucker. My father, Kat Jimenez, is a big fan of your work.โ
Recognition dawned on Codyโs face. He nodded eagerly. โAh, youโre Mr. Jimenezโs daughter! Youโve grown into a lovely young lady.โ
Freda gracefully approached Cody, linking her arm with his. โWhen can we expect you to join us for dinner, Mr. Tucker?โ she cooed. โMy father has been talking about you constantly, saying how much he misses you.โ
Cody laughed. โWell, Miss Jimenez, Iโve just returned and am quite busy. But once things calm down, Iโd love to visit your father.โ
Freda beamed. โOh, wonderful! You promise?โ
Gavin reached his limit. He grabbed Freda by the scruff of her neck and pulled her out the door. Freda resisted, but Gavinโs grip was firm.
Cody, puzzled, cradled his coffee. โWhatโs happening? Do those two know each other?โ
Living (presumably a character's name) leaned back, amused. โWho knows, maybe Gavin will have a girlfriend soon.โ
Cody rubbed his chin. โLife sure has a way of surprising us. Let it run its course.โ
Freda, seething in the yard, demanded, โWhatโs gotten into you? Why are you treating me like this?โ
Gavinโs fury mirrored hers. โWhy are you here? I told you not to come back.โ
Freda scoffed. โWho appointed you boss? Why should I listen to you?โ
โThis isnโt a coffee shop,โ Gavin said firmly. โYou canโt just come in whenever you want.โ
Freda retorted sarcastically, โIโll ask Mr. Tucker if I can visit. Iโm sure he wonโt mind.โ
Gavinโs face darkened. โWhatโs your plan?โ he growled.
Freda raised an eyebrow. โDo you really want to know?โ
Gavin nodded curtly.
โMy plan,โ Freda said, grinning, โis you.โ
Gavinโs expression was unreadable. โWhat do you want from me?โ
โAll you need to know is that my purpose revolves around you,โ Freda said dismissively.
Gavinโs eyebrow rose. โDonโt tell me youโve fallen for me?โ He moved closer, his face near Fredaโs.
Freda, startled, drew back. โHow dare you suggest such a thing? Donโt be so full of yourself!โ
Gavin laughed, a sound that stirred something in Freda. She felt a flush under his gaze.
