Chapter 654:
Elyse sat upright, anxious. “Lowell met with Tracy when Dolores came to Watscar to see you. He sent her to me.”
Shaking his head, Shaun said, “That’s impossible. Lowell is self-serving and despises Tracy. Why would he send her to you?”
“You don’t know him,” Elyse retorted. “I believe Lowell is involved in Tracy’s death. If not, trust the Ruiz siblings.”
Feeling chastised, Shaun looked at Jayden, who glanced back. “Why are you looking at me?”
Touching his nose, Shaun remarked, “Your wife is quite fierce.”
Jayden responded indifferently. “She’s being fierce to you, not me.”
Shaun felt growing frustration. Jayden closed his eyes to rest, but reminded Shaun, “If Lowell killed Tracy, he might have planned to get close to her beforehand.”
Elyse snorted. “Shaun favors the Ruiz siblings. Tracy can’t compare to them; Dolores was his first love.”
Shaun’s face reddened. “This isn’t favoritism. I don’t want to carelessly accuse anyone.”
Elyse’s anger flared. “Oh, Lowell and Dolores are good people. Tracy is the bad one for killing herself. Is that it?”
Shaun’s blood boiled. “Don’t be like that. I want fairness and justice, right?”
Elyse rolled her eyes. “Fairness and justice for them? It must be Tracy’s fault for falling for you.” She sighed. “Now she’s gone, her body missing. Pity her.”
Shaun stood, but Jayden stopped him. Jayden’s voice was icy. “Your tongue is sharp, but if you touch her, you’ll regret it.”
Shaun struggled to control his anger. “Tracy is dead, and I’m very sad. Why are you provoking me?”
Elyse scowled. “You!” Shaun was furious.
Tracy’s death had left him dazed. He barely functioned. No one understood his feelings, especially knowing she was likely murdered.
The closer he got to the truth, the more afraid he became—that Tracy was murdered and thrown into the sea. Elyse didn’t understand.
Shaun wanted to hit her, but Jayden stopped him. Jayden raised an eyebrow. “Protect your own woman. Don’t blame others for pointing out your mistakes. Didn’t you let Tracy die unjustly?”
Shaun’s heart ached. He said nothing, returned to his seat, and put on a blindfold.
Jayden turned to Elyse, hoping for respect. Shaun was clearly unwell.
Before Jayden could speak, Elyse glared, silencing him. She closed her eyes, exhausted. Her friend’s death felt surreal; only on the plane to Liverton did she truly accept it.
Elyse gripped her clothes. Her instinct said Lowell and Dolores were behind this. She would make them pay.
An hour and a half later, they reached the hotel before their meeting. Dolores was the only one there. Elegantly dressed in high heels with red soles, she glanced at them, then fixed her gaze on Shaun.
Supporting her chin, Dolores looked at Shaun affectionately. “Aren’t you busy in Watscar? What brings you to Liverton? Did you finally remember me?”
Shaun stared at Dolores, emotionless. “Where’s your brother? Didn’t Lowell come?” . . .
