Chapter 789:

Elyse paused, then responded, โ€œYou might be right, but I really think we should stay clear of it.โ€ She recalled Gavin was already at the accident site.

Edward tried to persuade her. โ€œWeโ€™ll sneak a quick peek and be back before you know it. If you feel like practicing later, Iโ€™ll join you.โ€

After hesitating, Elyse succumbed to curiosity and agreed to accompany Edward to the mall. Upon arrival, they bumped into Gavin, directing the investigation.

Gavin looked from Edwardโ€™s mischievous grin to Elyse. โ€œDid you two come to the mall together?โ€

Caught off guard, Elyse was speechless. Edward replied swiftly, โ€œI needed her help picking up violin strings. Thinking of the car accident, we came by for a quick check.โ€

Gavin scowled and advised, โ€œDo your shopping quickly and go back.โ€

Elyse nodded. โ€œUnderstood, Gavin. Weโ€™ll make it quick.โ€

Gavin didnโ€™t doubt Elyse, but turned to Edward, who smiled brightly. He set a document aside, scrutinized Edward, and asked, โ€œDo you have to take Elyse just to get violin strings? Edward, I told you to keep your distance from her.โ€

Elyse overheard and looked at Edward with suspicion.

Edward poked Gavinโ€™s chest, his voice aggrieved. โ€œI just wanted Elyse to come shopping with me. Whatโ€™s wrong with that?โ€

Gavinโ€™s expression hardened. He stepped back, wiping the spot Edward had poked. โ€œCan you try acting normal? Stop being so unpredictable.โ€

Edward became subdued, then looked at Elyse. โ€œCome on. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can get back. Otherwise, Gavin will think Iโ€™m up to something.โ€

Elyse remained silent.

Edward led Elyse into the mall, winding through several turns before reaching an alley. Elyse glanced around, noticing the old buildings.

They stopped before a shop with a gleaming glass facade. Edward motioned toward it. โ€œThis shop specializes in violins; itโ€™s been here for over a hundred years. Their selection is unmatched.โ€

Elyseโ€™s curiosity piqued. โ€œYou seem to know it well. Do you come here often?โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s right. Iโ€™m a regular.โ€ Edward leaned closer, his voice conspiratorial. โ€œI love this place. I usually donโ€™t tell anyone about it. Only you.โ€
