Chapter 848: Noveldrama

The staff members exchanged a look and moved toward Fiona, signaling it was time for her to leave. Fiona hastily retreated, asserting, โ€œIโ€™m merely delivering something for a friend. Iโ€™ll be out of your way shortly.โ€

Gavin was impatient. โ€œWell, you should have left already. Whatโ€™s keeping you here?โ€

With a fierce glare, Fiona snapped, โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m leaving.โ€

Once out of Gavinโ€™s sight, Fiona exhaled deeply, feeling temporary relief from the confrontation. Under her breath, she muttered defiantly, โ€œHe thinks he can force me out? If Elyse doesnโ€™t show, I might just step in for her. It doesnโ€™t matter which one of us competes.โ€ Still, Fiona needed to understand the delay in the competitionโ€™s start, so she went looking for someone in the know.

Meanwhile, in the car, Elyse noticed traffic clearing up ahead and excitedly remarked, โ€œLook, the trafficโ€™s clearing!โ€

David, confident, responded, โ€œYes, itโ€™s clearing up. Weโ€™ll get there in time for you to participate in the competition.โ€

โ€œWhat? Someone anonymously reported a bomb in the concert hall?โ€

Fiona had approached a staff member and discovered the reason for the delay. After pausing to think, she quickly added, โ€œIs there actually a bomb, or could it just be a hoax?โ€

The staff member shook his head. โ€œWe havenโ€™t verified the presence of a bomb inside the concert hall, but there was definitely an explosion near the back door. For the safety of everyone, we must rule out any possible bomb threats before the competition can proceed.โ€

Fiona nodded, showing her understanding, thanked the staff member, and hurried back to Elyseโ€™s lounge. She took out her phone and made a call. โ€œHello, Kaelyn. You need to come up with a plan quickly. Someone planted a bomb in the concert hall, and now the competition has been postponed.โ€

Upon hearing this, Kaelyn responded indifferently, โ€œIf thereโ€™s a bomb, just disarm it. Why involve me? Iโ€™ve done all I can for you. Do you expect me to handle bombs as well?โ€

Fiona replied anxiously, โ€œThatโ€™s not what Iโ€™m implying. Doesnโ€™t it strike you as odd? An anonymous tip about a bomb in the concert hall, and now the competition is on hold.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re implying that someone intentionally postponed the competition?โ€ While Kaelyn continued to casually tend to her fingernails, she mused, โ€œEven with the delay, Elyse wonโ€™t be able to return. Do you know where I took her? Sheโ€™s in a secluded area within the state, guarded by its own armed forces. Elyse might not even survive there.โ€

โ€œAre you certain?โ€ Fiona was dubious about Kaelynโ€™s claims.

Kaelyn scoffed, โ€œIf you donโ€™t believe me, then donโ€™t bother asking for my help. Weโ€™re nearly done with our partnership, and youโ€™re still questioning me? I really donโ€™t want to deal with someone like you anymore.โ€

Fiona, visibly embarrassed, quickly apologized. โ€œSorry, that wasnโ€™t my intention. Iโ€™m just really worried that Elyse will steal my opportunity.โ€

Upon hearing this, Kaelyn couldnโ€™t help but burst into laughter. She taunted, โ€œAre you serious? Your opportunity? Had I not orchestrated a car accident to eliminate a finalist previously, would you even be here? Your abilities are truly mediocre. Every chance youโ€™ve gotten has been due to my manipulations.โ€

Flushed with humiliation by Kaelynโ€™s remarks, Fiona quickly responded, โ€œRegardless, Iโ€™m deeply thankful for all youโ€™ve done. After the competition, Iโ€™ll make sure you get what you desire.โ€
