Chapter 853:

His words hung in the air, heavy and final, as if he were offering her one last chance to redeem herself, to find the person she had once been before it was too late.

Fiona tilted her head, her chin raised proudly, as she regarded Cody with a dismissive look. โ€œYou think Iโ€™m guilty? Then let the authorities judge me. You donโ€™t get to decide based on mere assumptions.โ€

Cody, his brow furrowed in frustration, attempted to reach her. โ€œDonโ€™t let bitterness cloud your judgment. Youโ€™ve lost sight of who you really are.โ€

Fiona responded with a defiant sneer. โ€œSo what? Iโ€™m happy and fulfilled. I have everything I need.โ€

Cody opened his mouth to speak, but Fiona cut him off. โ€œEnough. Youโ€™re not my mentor anymore, so drop the act. In your eyes, the only worthy disciples are Gavin, Irving, and Elyseโ€”not me.โ€

She paused, her voice bitter. โ€œI could never fit into your esteemed circle. My presence would only tarnish your reputation.โ€

Codyโ€™s face registered shock; his earlier attempts to interject were halted by her words, leaving him mute.

โ€œWhat?โ€ Fiona challenged, reading his silence. โ€œYou think I donโ€™t belong? So save your breath. I stopped seeing you as my mentor long ago.โ€ Her stance was unyielding, a complete rejection of Cody.

Silence fell between them. Finally, Cody found his voice, though it carried a note of defeat. โ€œTo play the violin beautifully, your soul must be pure. If itโ€™s clouded, the music will reflect that.โ€

Fiona scoffed. โ€œWhatโ€™s that supposed to mean? Are you suggesting my soul is tainted? Yours might be pristine, but mine certainly isnโ€™t.โ€

Just then, Gavin appeared backstage, his gaze piercing. โ€œAre you lashing out because you believe Mr. Tucker shouldnโ€™t have ousted you from his studio?โ€

Fiona nonchalantly flicked her ear. โ€œWhat are you implying? Iโ€™m not harboring any resentment towards him. Iโ€™m merely speaking the truth.โ€

Gavin laughed, his smile tinged with scorn. โ€œTruth? You know exactly why you were expelled. It wasnโ€™t your actions but your attitude. You havenโ€™t changed at all.โ€

Fionaโ€™s smirk was self-satisfied. โ€œYou admit I did wrong, then? Let the law judge me. Youโ€™re not qualified.โ€ With that, she turned sharply, her shoulder brushing Gavinโ€™s as she stormed off without a backward glance.

Cody sighed deeply, his spirit dampened by his unsuccessful attempt to persuade Fiona. โ€œMaybe Iโ€™m just getting old.โ€

Gavin tried to offer some comfort. โ€œMr. Tucker, donโ€™t dwell on it. Fionaโ€™s beyond listening to reason now. Itโ€™s not worth your energy.โ€
