Chapter 858:
Edward sneakily glanced at Elyse, who stood quietly. He gently poked her and whispered, โWho do you think will win first place?โ
Elyse wasnโt sure but hoped it would be her. โMe,โ she responded candidly.
Edward chuckled. โYouโre not very modest, are you?โ
Elyse snorted. โIโve given it my all. Being modest would be dishonest.โ
Edward blushed. โI admire your honesty,โ he responded softly.
Elyse looked at Edward, speechless.
Edward cleared his throat. โRemember,โ he gently reminded her, โyou promised to consider our relationship after the competition.โ
Elyse sighed heavily, instantly annoyed.
Seeing her reaction, Edward quickly asked, โWhat does that sigh mean? Is my affection bothersome?โ
Elyse hesitated, then shook her head. โJust be patient. Iโm not in the mood to discuss this now.โ
Edward touched his lips thoughtfully, a dark look crossing his eyes, but he remained silent, standing tall.
Finally, the judges returned to their seats.
The host glanced at the results, looking surprised, then walked onto the stage. โIn this yearโs Swan Cup Grand Final,โ he announced, approaching the microphone, โthree contestants have tied for third place: Darren and Geraldine.โ
Some in the audience expressed disappointment, appearing more upset than the contestants.
Elyse stood still, taking in the news, then realized the battle for first place was between her and Edward.
Elyse glanced at Edward; his nerves were evident. He even swallowed hard. Elyse tightened her fists, equally anxious, her heart racing.
Darren whispered, โThis is so tense. After this, will you and Edward become rivals?โ
Elyse snapped back quietly, โItโs tense enough. Donโt make it worse.โ
Darren nodded and kept quiet.
Edward said helplessly, โI joked youโd be up against me. I never imagined it would happen.โ
Elyse quipped, โLooks like your prayers were answered. What more could you ask for?โ
Edwardโs lips twitched.
As the tension peaked, the host announced the second-place winner. He looked at Elyse and Edward. โWho do you think got first place?โ he inquired curiously.
Handing the microphone to Elyse, she responded, โI think I did.โ
