Chapter 961:
Undeterred, Edward persisted. โBy the way, if you need anything, just ask. Iโm here to cater to your every wish.โ
โThere is one thing,โ Elyse mentioned, looking at Edward warily. โDoes the Moon Palace have a place where I can practice the violin? If not, Iโll practice in my room.โ
Edward couldnโt hold back his frustration. โWhy do you always think about the violin? Canโt we talk about something else?โ
Elyse regarded him coolly, realizing his intent. โIf I donโt bring up other topics, will you not let me stay?โ
โWhy would you think that?โ Edward raised his voice. โDo you really see me as that petty? Your safety is my priority.โ
Elyse nodded. โThen I have no more questions.โ Edward fell silent, sulking in his seat as he sipped his drink.
Meanwhile, Elyse gazed out of the car window. The Moon Palace served as a government office, not easily accessible to the public. Since Edward had taken her there, she planned to explore it thoroughly.
As the car approached a garden, Elyse asked curiously, โAre we there?โ
โYes, after this garden, weโll reach the building where youโll be staying,โ Edward explained, but he couldnโt help complaining. โThis place isnโt as wonderful as it seems. There are many guards, and itโs hardly a place for freedom. If youโd like, I could take you to a manor in the countryside instead.โ
Elyse observed the building before them. It was a six-story structure, and, as Edward had noted, it was patrolled by guards, making it feel more like a prison than a home.
With a calm voice, she said, โFreedom might be limited, but itโs safe. And isnโt safety what I need most right now?โ
Edward found himself at a loss for words. He had always disliked the place, but to Elyse, it seemed to provide some comfort.
After they stopped, Edward went to her side of the car to open the door.
As Elyse stepped out, she frowned. โWait, my clothes and personal items are still at Jaydenโs.โ
โDonโt worry, Jayden has already packed them and sent them here,โ Edward said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. โIt seems this situation is more complicated than I realized. Thereโs a chance he might not make it through this.โ
Elyse paused, her expression freezing as she looked at Edward, a lost child in her eyes.
Noticing the change in her demeanor, Edward sighed with a touch of regret. โThose are just my guesses. Donโt take them too seriously.โ
