Chapter 106

Eden and Rosalie had known each other for almost six years. Their official relationship was that of boss and assistant, but they were more like… Eden was Rosalie’s assistant, though actually three years older. Rosalie, a genius, had grown up with servants attending to every detail of her life. Cooking, therefore, was completely out of the question.

With Eden, it was different. He cared for her like an older brother, his the only care she accepted without hesitation.

Hearing Eden’s complaints, Rosalie didn’t bother defending herself, simply saying, “You’re just realizing that now?”

Their voices held a familiarity that struck Julian like a punch to the gut.

Julian listened, gripping the phone, the unsettling feeling inside him deepening. He felt like the outsider, the man who had truly been by Rosalie’s side all these years.

Juhan cursed bitterly. Six years? No wonder she was so eager to cut ties with him. She already had someone waiting in the wings.

His gaze turned ice-cold, his expression dangerously dark. If Rosalie and Eden were present, that look alone could have frozen them.

Yet, even then, Julian failed to realize—or perhaps refused to admit—that his emotions were spiraling out of control. His voice, low and sharp, came through the receiver. “Rosalie, do you think I’m dead?”

Rosalie moved away from the conversation and spoke into the phone, her tone flat. “Didn’t you call to talk about the divorce?”

Hearing that word again, Julian gritted his teeth, his fingers tightening around the receiver until his knuckles turned white. A heavy silence passed before he let out a low, mirthless laugh.
