Chapter 132
"What is she trying to pull off here, playing the doting husband?" Knale wondered. "If Roseanne found out about this, wouldn't he regret wasting three years of fidelity?"
Rosalie glanced at him sideways, giving him a cold, expressionless look. "Thank you, Mr. Galloway," she said, "but you can take your hand back now."
Julian, seemingly used to Rosalie's coldness, promptly withdrew his hand. "Alright, as you wish," he said with a mischievous smile. "But I was just trying to be helpful."
This only made Rosalie roll her eyes internally. To anyone else, his behavior might seem like the epitome of a loving husband, but Rosalie knew better.
As Rosalie had guessed, Helena, sitting opposite them, was seething with jealousy. She watched Julian's completely different attitudes toward Rosalie and herself, her eyes reddening with envy. "Why did Julian tolerate my attempts to please him, even embarrassing me repeatedly, yet show such tender concern for Rosalie?" Helena wondered. "Didn't he see how ruthless Rosalie had been, even willing to hurt her own brother?"
The more Helena observed Julian and Rosalie's interactions, the more intense her jealousy grew, turning into a twisted resentment directed entirely at Rosalie. Rosalie, however, simply wanted to finish her meal and leave as quickly as possible. She couldn't stand being in the same room with Julian any longer.
Julian seemed to sense her thoughts and called out, "Rosalie…"
The way he said her name, with that infuriatingly smooth tone, almost made her drop her fork. She turned her head and glared at him, only to hear him say, "Serve me a piece of lamb chop. You seem to be enjoying it so much; I'd like to try it."
"Try you to hell," Rosalie thought, giving him a cold, dismissive look. "Don't you get it yourself?" she retorted.
"It's too far for me to reach," he replied.
Rosalie was silent. You are tall and lanky, yet you have the nerve to say you couldn't reach! she thought, annoyed. If you like lying so much, you should just play the role of Pinocchio. Instead, she sneered, "Didn't you just say you have a germ phobia?"
This question was a direct slap in Julian's face and rubbed salt into Helena's already wounded pride. Helena clenched her fists, her fingernails digging into her palms as she struggled to maintain her composure. Is Julian really going to humiliate me like this? she wondered. Just a few minutes ago, he claimed to have a germ phobia, even insisting on new utensils. Now he's asking Rosalie to serve him, completely disregarding my feelings!
Not just Helena, but Phyllis and Edward also looked displeased. Even though Julian didn't say it outright, they all felt he was doing this on purpose to embarrass Helena. But because of his powerful background, they had no choice but to swallow their irritation.
Then Julian added, "You're different. You're my wife."
Rosalie was stunned for a moment. What's wrong with this guy lately? she wondered. Does a divorce agreement make him crazy, or who is behind his erratic behavior? He is quite eloquent. That was her real feeling.
