Chapter 148

Claudia, quickly intervening, restrained Helena, who was about to fight with Rosalie. She soothed Helena with a look, saying, “Let’s go upstairs together.” Helena was eventually taken upstairs against her will, and Phyllis, angered and exhausted by the night's events, followed.

Now, in the living room, only Rosalie, Edward, and Julian remained, aside from the servants. “What are your plans now, Rosalie?” Edward asked, avoiding direct mention of her divorce. Although she had confirmed it to him by phone, Julian's behavior that evening didn't suggest an impending divorce.

Rosalie, understanding Edward’s implication, didn't hesitate. “I’ll be living at home from now on. Dad, you wouldn’t mind, would you?” Her attention focused on Edward, she missed Julian’s slight frown.

Edward gave Julian a meaningful look before feigning indulgence. “What nonsense! This is your home. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like.” He inwardly added, “Better to completely cut ties with Julian so he has no reason to support you,” but kept this thought concealed. He glanced at Julian, who stared at Rosalie with a stern expression, and surmised Julian likely had more to say. Edward tactfully departed, believing a falling-out between the two would be beneficial.
