Chapter 90

The words “No need” were on Julian’s lips, but he swallowed them. His voice steadied as he spoke, “Do whatever you think is best.” With that, he ended the call.

His already cold expression grew grimmer, as if the room temperature had plummeted. “Rosalie, you really are something else,” he ground out between clenched teeth.

He questioned himself: Why the hell did I bring that ungrateful woman home last night? Why did I bother checking on her? Clearly, she doesn’t care whether I’m worried or not. She’s in such a hurry to cut ties, as if my concern means nothing.

The more he thought about it, the more irritable he became. It was infuriating—even more so than when Isaac forced him to marry Rosalie. Julian usually kept his emotions in check, but these past few days, Rosalie’s actions stirred something within him. The worst part was that he didn’t even realize it.

With a frustrated sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose, leaned back in his chair, and forced himself to clear his mind. Just then, his phone buzzed with a new message. He glanced at the screen: Roseanne.

Roseanne: [Julian, my plane just landed. I’m about to get off. Are you at the airport yet?]

Julian’s face remained unreadable. He felt nothing looking at the message. Still, it reminded him of her earlier texts—the ones he ignored because Rosalie had so angered him.

Apparently, Roseanne had told him she was flying back today, mentioning a layover in Kamberg and arrival in Hasmond in three hours. She assumed he’d be waiting. That tone—as if it were natural for him to drop everything and rush to pick her up, like he was her personal driver.

After reading the message, Julian set his phone aside without replying. He reached for his documents, trying to focus on work, but his mind kept returning to Rosalie, that darn woman, and her infuriating, arrogant attitude. The more he thought about her, the more irritable he felt.
