Chapter 99
Eden pursed his lips, saying nothing. If Rosalie hadn't spent years acting like a lovesick fool over Julian, he might have believed her noble reason. Een added, “Oh, right. Besides Mr. Byers, you’ve also got a few emails from your father.”
Eden had investigated Edward and Helena for Rosalie some time ago, so he knew Helena was Edward's illegitimate daughter. Having worked for Rosalie for years, he knew she might seem easygoing, but was, deep down, a nightmare to deal with. Even as Rosalie's father, Edward wouldn't fare well.
Sure enough, at the mention of Edward, Rosalie's face twisted with unmistakable disdain. She let out a cold laugh. "Let me guess," she said, "he reaches out because of Helena's illness, right?" She was sure Barney had told the Grahams about her paper, since her research directly related to Helena's illness.
But Edward didn't know Dr. Rotello, the paper's author, was his birth daughter. So, instead of contacting her directly, they tried Eden. Eden's public email was accessible. Even without knowing him personally, contacting him wasn't difficult. Whether Eden would reply was another matter.
"Bingo," Eden confirmed. "He wants me to help him contact you. He said that if the surgical method is successful, Helena wants to be the first patient. Money isn't an issue.”
He scoffed at the email, particularly Edward's arrogant tone, as if money could solve everything. Internally, Eden rolled his eyes. "When this procedure becomes available," he thought, "do they have any idea how many elite families and billionaires will be lined up, paying any price to get it done?" And they really thought it would magically be handed to the Graham family's illegitimate daughter? Even if, by some miracle, she made the list, the Boss would never personally operate on her.
