Chapter 103

โ€œMrs. Myersโ€™s older brother isnโ€™t much of a brother. I mean, how could he only stand by and watch?โ€ Fagan fumed, pacing back and forth. โ€œSheโ€™s his sister, for Peteโ€™s sake! And he just let her get bullied? And that foster girl is a real piece of work, always stirring the pot. The Jewell family must be out of their minds.โ€

Fagan was still seething about what he had just witnessed. โ€œAnd they had the nerve to blame it on how Mrs. Myers dressed? She was wearing a tank top! Itโ€™s not like she was out of line. Lots of girls dress like that. Some people are plain rotten, and itโ€™s got nothing to do with what women wear.โ€

Silas had been silent the whole time, listening to Faganโ€™s rant. When Fagan paused to catch his breath, Silas finally turned to him and said, โ€œRound up those guys causing trouble earlier. Give them a proper scare, and see if you can find out who put them up to it.โ€

He had noticed something fishy when those men had locked eyes with Lisette.

โ€œGot it,โ€ Fagan nodded, ready to take action.

Silas stood there, his eyes glued to where Calliope was. She had mentioned she had something important to do tonight. Was it to watch the races, or was there someone there she was interested in?

Wynton had advised him to get to know her better but subtly, so he was observing from a distance. He didnโ€™t want to upset her by making his presence known.

Of course, if things got dicey, heโ€™d step in without hesitation. No one was going to mess with his wife!

The car race kicked off, with Portia cheering wildly for Lance. Calliope was beside her, watching the big screen with a calm demeanor.

Just then, Lisette sauntered to Calliope, a smug grin plastered across her face despite the slap mark still fresh on her cheek.

โ€œCalliope, you think youโ€™ve won? Youโ€™re wrong. You may have hit me, but youโ€™ve lost your brotherโ€™s affection forever.โ€

โ€œYou witch, havenโ€™t you had enough?โ€ Portia snapped, glaring daggers at Lisette.

Lisette chuckled condescendingly, โ€œCalliope, your parents are mine now. Your brothers adore me. Everything you have will be mine!โ€

โ€œOh, you enjoy picking up trash, do you? Well, go ahead. Have at it,โ€ Calliope retorted, glancing at Lisette. โ€œYou dress like a trash can, so no wonder youโ€™re fond of garbage.โ€

Portia burst out laughing. โ€œRight on! She does look just like the bin down the street!โ€

Lisetteโ€™s face twisted with rage as she glowered at Calliope. It was clear that she had changed. Lisette couldnโ€™t figure out how or why, but the change was undeniable.

Unfazed, Calliope grabbed Portiaโ€™s arm and turned away, leaving Lisette fuming, feeling more ignored than ever. She narrowed her eyes, brooding over the situation.

It didnโ€™t matter, she would not let Calliope off the hook. She would snatch away everything that belonged to her.

She vowed to make everyone believe that Calliope was a harbinger of catastrophe!

Meanwhile, Portia still fumed. โ€œThat Lisette is such a pain. Sheโ€™s taken everything from you and still acts all high and mighty!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry about her. Her time will come,โ€ Calliope said with a sly smile. โ€œHer birthday is coming up soon.โ€

At the birthday party, everyone would see Lisette for who she really was. Lisette had done many dubious things, and it wouldnโ€™t take much to gather evidence against her. Only her clueless brothers and parents were blind to Lisetteโ€™s true colors, unaware of how she was slowly bleeding the Jewell family dry. Once she had what she wanted, sheโ€™d leave them high and dry.

โ€œSo, whatโ€™s the plan for the party?โ€ Portia asked, intrigued.

โ€œIโ€™ve got something cooked up. Just ensure youโ€™re there to watch the show,โ€ Calliope replied with a wink.
