Chapter 130
Calliope couldnโt help but think of Gideon. She had mentioned Million countless times, but he never took it seriously. He never even bothered to help her find Million.
Sometimes, you donโt realize things until you compare. And when you do, it all becomes clear.
Calliope couldnโt help but lower her voice and say to Silas, โThank you.โ
Silas got a phone call and had to return to the office for business.
So, Calliope decided to take Million for a little tour around the Myers Manor.
Damien and the others were intensely curious about Million, and as they walked, they bombarded Calliope with questions.
Calliope gave a brief explanation that Million was an experiment; originally a wolf, its intelligence was off the charts.
โYou know how people joke online about smart dogs taking college entrance exams? Well, with Million, itโs not a joke. Itโs the real deal.โ
โThat impressive, huh?โ Damien looked at Million, amazed.
โAbsolutely,โ Calliope nodded. โYou can consider him a friend.โ
Damien nodded earnestly and extended his hand to Million, โHello, Million. Iโm Damien. I work for Mr. Myers, and Iโm the butler of the Myers Manor. If you need anything, you can come to me.โ
โHowl!โ Million nodded and extended its paw, shaking hands, or rather, pawsโwith Damien formally.
Despite the pawโs massive size, it was so fluffy that Damien found it irresistibly adorable.
After looking at Million again, Damien couldnโt help but ask, โMr. Myers has a few pets. Would Million be afraid of tigers or anything like that?โ
Calliope chuckled.
Millionโs ears twitched, and he howled a few times.
โMillion says heโd like to see Mr. Myersโ pets,โ Calliope explained. โIs that okay?โ
โOf course.โ Damien then took Calliope and Million to see the animals Silas kept in the manorโs backyard.
Silas had a stallion and a white tiger named Snowy, which were stunning and enormous.
Usually, both the stallion and Snowy had temperaments that were less than friendly, but to Damienโs surprise, they were unusually calm as they approached.
โSnowy is quite adorable,โ Calliope observed, looking at the tiger. โCan it come out?โ
Damien hesitated slightly, โWhile Snowy wonโt harm anyone without Mr. Myersโ command, you arenโt exactly familiar with it. Iโm concerned it might scare you.โ
โItโs okay. It wonโt attack me,โ Calliope assured him.
Damien, following Calliopeโs request, let Snowy out, and the black stallion was released as well.
To Damienโs astonishment, Snowy approached Calliope as if greeting a longโlost friend, nuzzling her hand affectionately, behaving more like a giant house cat than a tiger.
What shocked Damien even more was how Snowy and the stallion lowered their heads slightly toward Million, looking as if acknowledging its authority.
โHowl, howl!โ Suddenly, Million stood on his hind legs and patted both Snowy and the stallion on the head with its paws.
Damienโs jaw dropped.
The few attendants following Damien looked on in disbelief, ready to spring into action at the slightest sign of trouble.
But to their astonishment, neither Snowy nor the stallion showed any sign of agitation.
These animals, usually so proud, were now as docile as could be.
โWith Million around, thereโs no need to worry about keeping them penned up,โ Calliope said. โIt seems theyโve accepted Million as their leader.โ
Damien was speechless.
It wasnโt just that they accepted Million. Damien could clearly see that these creatures, which they usually couldnโt even approach, were also exceptionally wellโbehaved with Calliope.
