Chapter 144

Calliope pouted, โ€œDonโ€™t have that kind of strength.โ€

Silas was catching on to the situation. He looked at her with an amused smile, gently ruffling her hair. โ€œOf course, my dear lady is the most delicate of all. Thereโ€™s no way she could have that much strength. You guys must be half-asleep. Go back to bed!โ€

Damien stood there, speechless, and thought, โ€˜Great, whatever nonsense Mrs. Myers says, Mr. Myers buys it.โ€™

They sheepishly shuffled out of the room.

Silas gazed at Calliope with indulgence. โ€œAre you not getting along with them? Iโ€™ll have them stay out of sight if they bother you!โ€

โ€œOh no, itโ€™s nothing like that. I think Damien and the others were only teasing me.โ€ Calliope glanced up with a smile. โ€œYou donโ€™t believe I could lift Million, do you? Heโ€™s enormous! If I could swing him around, thatโ€™d be quite the tale! Iโ€™m not that strong!โ€

โ€œExactly, my dear lady would never be violent.โ€ Silas chuckled, glancing at the slumped-over Million, a smirk playing on his lips.

Calliope felt his hand in her hair and looked up, content as a kitten. Unconsciously, she snuggled closer to Silas.

The more time she spent with Silas, the more she felt she couldnโ€™t be without him. She didnโ€™t want him to know how strong she was. Men typically werenโ€™t fond of overly strong women. They preferred gentle ones.

Maybe she should find time to talk to Damien and the others and ask them to keep her strength a secret.

Silas was oblivious to Calliopeโ€™s inner musings. To him, she was so adorable.

โ€œCallie, your birthdayโ€™s coming up. How would you like to celebrate?โ€ Silas gently twirled one of her fingers as he asked softly. Calliope looked at him in surprise. โ€œHow did you know?โ€

Silasโ€™s gaze deepened. โ€œI heard the Jewell family is planning a grand birthday party for Lisette. Itโ€™s supposed to be quite the eventโ€ฆโ€ He knew all about Calliope and Lisetteโ€™s situation. He had actually been keeping an eye on them for many years. So, he knew Calliope had never truly celebrated her birthday on her actual day.

Every time, she shared it with Lisette. Every time, Lisette took center stage. For Calliope, it was merely an afterthought, without even a birthday cake for her.

Silasโ€™s heart ached for her, so he wanted to throw her a grand birthday party, one even more magnificent than Lisetteโ€™s, inviting even more of the cityโ€™s elite.

โ€œOh, right. The Jewell family is making such a fuss about Lisetteโ€™s birthday, even saying theyโ€™re setting up potential suitors for her at the party. Everyone in town knows,โ€ Calliope said, lowering her gaze, unsurprised.

Monty Jewell and Zelda might not be particularly notable, but they had three well-known sons. Their reputation was significant.

With their backing, Lisette naturally gained fame. With such promotion, there would undoubtedly be no shortage of people interested in the talented Lisette. The birthday party was bound to be quite lively.

โ€œHow about I throw you a grander one?โ€ Silas ruffled her hair, asking with affectionate indulgence.

Calliope shook her head. โ€œNo, letโ€™s not steal their thunder for now. Whether I celebrate my birthday doesnโ€™t matter.โ€

She had plans to make a splash at Lisetteโ€™s birthday, so the livelier her party was, the better!
