Chapter 157
Silas couldnโt help but chuckle at Calliopeโs determination. It was as if she were bracing for some grand battle, and he found it amusing.
Standing beside him, Fagan also found the situation quite funny. He smiled but kept his composure.
โMrs. Myers, here is a complete list of Mr. Myersโ assets. Iโve been working on organizing everything these days and have finally sorted them out, so Iโm here to report to you.โ
โMr. Myers owns several properties, which includeโฆโ
โMr. Myers also has stakes in these companiesโฆโ
โAnd here are some other assets under Mr. Myersโ nameโฆโ
Fagan began listing Silasโs assets to Calliope, detailing each one as he went through the list.
Calliope felt a bit overwhelmed as she listened. She glanced at Silas, confused by the situation. This wasnโt at all what she expected if they were heading for a divorce. She had always said sheโd walk away with nothing if it came to that, considering she was the one who had proposed to him. How could she even consider taking his assets?
โMr. Myers has already transferred all these properties to your name. However, there are a few documents that require your signature. Also, these cards here contain Mr. Myersโ funds, and they will be handed over to your care,โ Fagan explained.
โNot just for safekeepingโfor spending,โ Silas interjected, looking up with a soft smile. โAll these are for you to spend as you wish. Everything is yours. Buy whatever you want. If the money runs out, Iโll earn more for you to spend.โ
โHuh?โ Calliope was baffled. Was she dreaming? Did Silas say she should spend all his money?
โWhat Mr. Myers means to say,โ Fagan clarified, โis that these assets are now yours. You can use them however you like, even squander them freely. You can manage them, or notโitโs entirely up to you.โ
Calliope stared at Silas, bewildered. โAre you terminally ill or something?โ
โNo, wait. Iโd know if you were sick,โ Calliope said, thinking out loud. After all, she was a good doctor. Sheโd have noticed if he were ill. He couldnโt have gone mad, could he? He seemed perfectly sane.
Amused by her concern, Silas said, โIโm not terminally ill, nor am I sick. Youโre my wife, and isnโt it a husbandโs duty to provide for his wife? As Mrs. Myers, you should have control of everything I own. From now on, you give me pocket money. All my money is yours.โ
Silas said that with a playful tenderness that left Calliope speechless.
She quickly waved her hands. โNo, no. Iโm terrible at managing money and donโt need it. You might not believe this, but Iโm pretty well-off myselfโฆโ She was so well-off enough that she didnโt even know the full extent of her own wealth. She could barely manage her own financesโhow could she possibly handle Silasโs?
โI know youโre wealthy, but your money is yours, and my money is yours, too. Iโm your husband. Isnโt it only right that you spend my money?โ Silas stated confidently, โThe more you spend, the more motivated Iโll be to earn.โ
What kind of incredible man was this? Even in a marriage that began as a mere contract, he was willing to be so generous. If it were genuine love, how wonderful would he be?
โMrs. Myers, please just sign these documents,โ Fagan prompted from the side. โOnce you do, Iโll handle the rest, and everything will be officially yours. Even if Mr. Myers wants to make a move, heโll need your permission.โ
โBy the way, when do you plan to visit the company?โ
โWhat? Why would I go to the company?โ Calliope asked, surprised by Faganโs question.
