Chapter 163
At the door, Ulysses glared at Calliope with a face that could sour milk.
โYouโre here early. Didnโt mess around with anything, did you?โ
Calliope glanced at her third brother. She had three older brothers. Horatio, the eldest, was a bit more agreeable, but Ulysses, closest to her age, was the worst.
Ulysses wore his disdain for her like an old leather jacket, plain for everyone to see. He never acknowledged her as his sister. Even when they were out, heโd warmly include Lisette, showering her with attention and pocket money. But when it came to Calliope, heโd act like she was invisible, even turning a blind eye if someone was giving her a hard time.
Calliope looked at Ulysses calmly. She handed the dress she was holding to Lisette, standing beside him.
Lisette had her hair done but was still waiting for her dress, clearly anticipating the moment.
โA dress by K. One-of-a-kind design,โ Calliope told Lisette.
โIs it really designed by K?โ Lisette was skeptical about Calliopeโs intentions but couldnโt help the flicker of hope. In the elite circles of Capitalton, everyone adored Kโs designs. They were like gold dust, hard to come by and highly coveted. Wearing a K design would make Lisette the talk of the town.
Lisetteโs eyes narrowed as she studied Calliope. She didnโt trust Calliope entirely but knew she wouldnโt deceive Valerian and the others. Calliope always seemed to care about family ties. In the past, she had always put up with everything, never daring to defy them.
โOf course,โ Calliope said, tilting her head slightly.
โHand it over!โ Ulysses stepped before Lisette, warily watching Calliope as he snatched the dress.
โYou better not be up to something. Kโs design is recognizable at a glance. If thereโs any issue, Calliope, you better spill now, or I wonโt let it slide.โ
Calliope met his gaze. โItโs a K design. Youโll see.โ
Ulysses opened the dress bag right there, inspecting the garment. Every detail fit the bill. He turned to Lisette, โLisette, it looks fine to me. What do you think?โ
Lisetteโs eyes lit up. She hadnโt seen this particular dress before. Though unfamiliar, it was unmistakably Kโs work. The signature mark was there for anyone knowledgeable about K to recognize.
โIt really is a K design, and itโs not even one thatโs been circulated! Itโs gorgeous. Youโll stun everyone wearing this, Lisette!โ
Ulysses seemed satisfied and shot a glance at Calliope. โYouโre smarter than I thought.โ
Calliope looked at him indifferently. โIs there anything else? If not, Iโll be on my way.โ
โWho said you could leave? If youโre not at the party, people will talk about Lisette,โ Ulysses said coldly. โJust keep a low profile and stick around until the end. Donโt let people notice thereโs tension between us.โ
โOur relationship is already strained. Why are you so worried?โ Calliope raised an eyebrow.
โIโm not worried about me. Iโm worried about Lisette getting the brunt of it, and itโs all your fault!โ Ulysses snapped. โCalliope, not celebrating Lisetteโs birthday with her is just your way to embarrass her. Donโt think I donโt see through your nasty plans!โ
Chapter 164
โYou know, itโs because youโre so nasty that I...โ
