Chapter 184
โA month from now, something terrible will happen to Crispin. Heโll end up in jail, and then you, trying to protect him, will be threatened, leading to the Sutton familyโs bankruptcy and Mrs. Suttonโs serious illnessโฆโ
Calliope looked at Fintan with utmost seriousness. Her beautiful face showed not a hint of jest. Her eyes were filled with an intense earnestness. โFintan, Iโm not joking. You might think this is unbelievable, but it will happen. We have to stop it!โ
โCallie, are you having some sort of delusion?โ Fintan cautiously reached out and felt Calliopeโs forehead. โHow about I take you to a doctor?โ
Fintan figured Calliope was probably distressed from cutting ties with the Jewell family, which had affected her mentally.
โFintan, Iโm fine. Iโm clear-headed,โ Calliope insisted, looking him straight in the eye.
Fintan gazed into Calliopeโs eyes and saw her genuine concern for the Sutton family. She seemed to really mean it.
โFintan, you donโt have to do much. Just stop one person from entering your company. Crispin will get into trouble because of her.โ
โYes, itโs supposed to be today!โ Calliope glanced at her phone, confirming the time. โWhen youโre back at the office this afternoon, Crispin is interviewing for a secretary. A woman named Sandra will apply. Her resume looks great, and sheโs pretty, but sheโs hiding that sheโs married, and her husband is a real piece of work!โ โSheโll ruin your whole family! Fintan, you must not let her into the company or let Crispin meet her!โ Calliope was practically pleading. โPlease believe me, Fintan. Iโd never harm you or the Sutton family!โ
Fintan chuckled softly, โHow could you possibly know these things?โ
He didnโt quite believe it since it sounded too far-fetched.
โYouโll see when you return to the office this afternoon. If you see Sandra, donโt let her in!โ
โOh, and I remember there will be a fire in a factory on the west side of town this afternoon at one. If you see it on the news, youโll know Iโm telling the truth! There wonโt be any casualties, but itโll be a big fire!โ
Calliope recalled that the day Sandra was supposed to join was the same day the factory caught fire.
โAlright, Iโll check it out,โ Fintan replied, still a bit skeptical.
Fintan had other things to attend to, so he left soon after. Despite Calliope repeatedly refusing his offer of some pocket money, he insisted, telling her to reach out if she needed anything.
Later that day, Fintan returned to the office and brought up the issue over lunch with his son, Crispin.
โCallie must be shaken up,โ Crispin said, furrowing his brow. โMaybe Portia should bring her home for a few days. What happened with the Jewell family mustโve hit her hard.โ
โLetโs ask Portia about it later,โ Fintan said, taking a bite of his sandwich.
โWait, Dad. What she said might be true!โ Crispin froze, staring at a video of roaring flames his friend had just sent him on his phone.
Fintan quickly grabbed the phone to take a look.
Sure enough, it was the exact factory fire Calliope had mentioned.
A chill ran down his spine as he exchanged a glance with Crispin. Both of them felt a creeping unease. Calliopeโs warnings seemed to be true!
