Chapter 192

Gideon stood there, not saying a word, his eyes fixed on Calliope like he was trying to see through her. But Calliope couldnโ€™t care less about what Gideon thought.

โ€œIโ€™m not in the mood for drinks anymore. How about we head back?โ€ Calliope suggested to Portia.

โ€œSounds good to me. What a buzzkill,โ€ Portia replied, scrunching her nose in annoyance. She grabbed her purse, casting a deliberate glare Gideonโ€™s way.

Gideon frowned, his expression a mix of confusion and frustration as he watched Calliope. He wondered, โ€œWhat can Callie have that I donโ€™t know about? Is Portia trying to mess with me? Calliope isnโ€™t a woman of mystery. What kind of skills could she hide?โ€

The thought irked Gideon, but then he shook it off. Theyโ€™d been friends for ages. There were no secrets between them.

That little stunt with hacking into the surveillance? Probably it was just something she picked up somewhere, nothing too impressive.

Meanwhile, Lisette and her brothers had been waiting for the moment when Calliope would be carted off by the police. Surely, if she was taken away, sheโ€™d come begging them to testify on her behalf.

But to their surprise, Calliope had sorted everything out within minutes. The couple causing trouble got escorted away by the cops, and she walked out without a scratch. Sheโ€™d even managed to access the surveillance footage from her phone.

Ulysses and his group were left feeling a mix of disbelief and something else they couldnโ€™t quite put their finger on. They never thought Calliope had it in her.

โ€œWow, sheโ€™s got some skills. Wonder where she picked that up,โ€ Lisette commented, a smile on her face but her eyes cold as ice.

โ€œJust a fluke,โ€ Ulysses scoffed, refusing to acknowledge any real talent in Calliope.

โ€œIf she had any real talent, weโ€™d know about it,โ€ Valerian added with a sneer.

As they gossiped amongst themselves, Calliope waved goodbye to Portia and made her way over to them.

They exchanged looks, surprised that Calliope was heading their way.

Lisette was stunned, too. She quickly said, โ€œCallie, are you regretting leaving the Jewell family already? No matter what, youโ€™re still their sister by blood. You guys shouldnโ€™t hold a grudge because she once said she wanted out of the family. Sure, she might not know much and sometimes cause trouble for the family and the companyโ€ฆ People may call her useless, but sheโ€™s still a Jewell, right?โ€

โ€œShe wanted out, remember? Does she dare to come back now?โ€ Ulysses said, his tone icy.

โ€œWeโ€™d never take her back, even if she begged!โ€ Valerian added with disdain.

โ€œShe thought she was too good for the Jewell family. Letโ€™s see if she can manage on her own,โ€ Horatio said, glancing at Calliope with a smirk.

The three of them were still annoyed about Calliopeโ€™s declaration at the party to cut ties with the Jewell family. If she wanted to sever ties, sheโ€™d better stick to it and never come crawling back.

Calliope stopped in front of the four.

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€ Ulysses asked, looking up at her. โ€œRegretting your impulsive decisions? You should think things through before you act, or be ready to face the consequences.โ€

โ€œCalliope, if youโ€™re thinking of coming back, Iโ€™m seriously disappointed in you,โ€ Valerian mocked.

Calliope swept her gaze over the trio, unfazed. โ€œDream on. I finally managed to cut ties with you. Why on earth would I come crawling back?โ€
