Chapter 200
โYeah, itโs not right to throw them away. Just give them back to Calliope,โ Valerian nodded.
โBut itโs just a photo, not proof of anything!โ Lisette frowned, trying to defend Calliope. โDonโt get the wrong idea about her. She might not be as bad as you think.โ
โSheโs exactly that kind of person,โ Zelda said, her face darkened with anger. โYou all should keep your distance from her. Donโt get dragged into her mess! Everyone knows sheโs no longer associated with us.โ
Thinking about Calliope was enough to give Zelda a headache. Her flesh and blood was a walking disaster, always getting into shameless trouble. It was no wonder sheโd got involved with both Gideon and Silas; she had a history! A niece and uncle tangled up in a mess, unbelievable!
Zelda was so furious that her head was spinning. โIโm going back to my room.โ
Horatio and the others also frowned, wondering how Calliope could behave so disgracefully.
Calliope was completely unaware that she was being gossiped about again. By the time she found out, it was two days later.
Horatio and his two brothers tracked her down. She was at a diner discussing business, having just seen her assistant off, when she spotted them outside unloading a bunch of stuff from their car.
Calliope glanced at it, recognizing the gifts she had once given them.
โDidnโt I tell you to toss those?โ Calliope said coldly, glancing at them. โWhy bring them back?โ
โCalliope, you think weโd want your stuff?โ Ulysses snapped. โWe wouldnโt touch your dirty things!โ
โYou wanted us to throw them away so you could have an excuse to ask for more? Forget it. Weโre returning them!โ
โIโm warning you,โ Ulysses continued angrily, โdonโt ever mention us as your brothers. We donโt need a sister whoโs an embarrassment!โ
Calliope looked at them, bewildered. โWhat are you talking about?โ
What had she done to embarrass them? She had no idea what was going on.
โCalliope, we know everything,โ Ulysses said, his brow furrowed. โFrom middle school onwards, all those disgusting things you didโitโs revolting!โ
โCalliope,โ Valerian interjected, โno matter how broke you are, selling yourself is not the answer. Do you think thatโs something to be proud of?โ
โWe donโt want anything you bought with that filthy money. Itโs disgusting!โ
Realization dawned on Calliope, and she nearly laughed at the absurdity. โSo, you think I traded my body for money and bought you gifts?โ
โIsnโt that it?โ Ulysses sneered. โHow else would you, a waitress, earn that much?โ
Calliope looked at Ulysses sharply. โDid I ever say I was a waitress?โ
โIf youโre not a waitress, then what? Youโre here all the time, smelling like this place. Are you going to claim you own it?โ
โIt is a decent-sized diner,โ Ulysses laughed. โThe rent here isnโt cheap. Can you even afford it?โ
Calliope had no interest in explaining. โThink whatever you want. Whether Iโm a waitress or the owner, I donโt owe you anything.โ
โCallie,โ Horatio said, his eyebrows knitted together, looking at her like she was something repulsive, โweโve been siblings for years. But let me warn you, making money indecently will only bring you shame. As Silasโs wife, it will be a nasty scene if he finds out about your past.โ
Calliope could only shake her head at the absurdity.
