Chapter 230
โWell, to put it simply, Iโm actually pretty well-off. I wouldnโt say Iโm as rich as a king, but Iโm not far off,โ Calliope spoke with complete seriousness. โIโve been lucky. My grandfather left me quite a bit of wealth and assets. When I was younger, I liked to dabble in things, so I started a few businesses here and there โ stores, companies, that kind of thing. I hired good people to manage them, and everything just kept going smoothly. So, the money kept rolling in, and honestly, I lost track of how much I actually have.โ
She stole a cautious glance at Silas. โI have investments in pretty much every industry, but I donโt really keep up with them.โ
She was, in every sense, a hands-off business owner. But fortunately, the people she had in place were competent and dedicated, so even without her direct involvement, everything flourished.
Silas furrowed his brows slightly, his striking features unreadable.
Calliope remained silent.
Was he upset? She hadnโt intentionally hidden this from him. It just never seemed important to bring up.
โI wasnโt trying to keep it a secret,โ she said carefully. โDonโt be mad, okay? Well, I have other secrets too. Iโll tell you everything.โ
Silas looked at her.
โYou know about the Miracle Doctor, right?โ
โYeah,โ he said, his eyes dark and knowing. โYouโre the Miracle Doctor.โ
Calliope was left speechless.
โYou know Imperial Entertainment?โ
โYou own it.โ
Calliope was like, โโฆโ
She studied him, feeling a strange mix of emotions. He already knew everything.
โNo more?โ Silas finally asked after a moment. โThatโs it? No other secrets? Nothing else youโre hiding?โ
โNope,โ she said, shaking her head.
Wellโฆ except for the fact that she had been reincarnated. But even if she did tell him, heโd probably just think she was crazy.
โThen that phone call just now!โ he fixed her with a serious look. โListen, ifโand I mean ifโyou had a son, I wouldnโt be upset. You wouldnโt have to hide it from me. If you have a son, bring him here. Youโre his mom, so that makes me his dad. Weโll raise him together.โ
Calliope was taken aback. She stared at him, torn between laughter and disbelief.
โYou overheard my call?โ
Silas didnโt answer. His face was slightly tense, his mood clearly not great.
โThat wasnโt my kid. That was Uptonโs son. You know Upton, right? Owner of the Thorne Group?โ
Calliope went on, โI delivered his baby. There were complications during the birth, and sadly, his mother passed away right after. That kid survived because I fought to save him. So later, when Upton took him back, he insisted that the boy recognize me as his godmother, which technically makes you his godfather.โ Calliope gave a wry smile and uttered, โHow can I possibly have a son like that? Besides, my firstโฆโ Mentioning the topic made Calliope blush. Her first was with Silas; she was surprised that heโd doubt her.
Silas was momentarily stunned. He almost forgot about it. Heโd become upset and jumped to conclusions just because he overheard someone calling her โMommyโ on the phone.
Now that the misunderstanding was cleared up, he let out a slow breath, feeling a weight lift off his chest.
โYou and Upton are close, then?โ
Since she was Baberโs godmother, frequent interaction with Upton would likely be the case.
โYeah, I guess,โ Calliope admitted. โBaber has some health issues, and Iโve been treating him for a while. Since I see them often, Upton and I have become sort of good friends.โ
