Chapter 237
Calliope couldnโt even be bothered to explain herself to Ulysses.
โMove. Donโt get in the way.โ
โWhat did you just say?โ Ulysses stared at her in disbelief. โIs that any way to talk to your own brother?โ
โBrother?โ Calliope gave him a once-over. โSorry, I donโt recall having a brother like you.โ
Ulyssesโ face turned sour. โWell, we donโt recall having a sister like you either!โ
โGreat. So move,โ Calliope replied blandly.
โCalliope, are you seriously not going to help Horatio find out who the Miracle Doctor is?โ Valerianโs tone grew cold. โHeโs been good to you over the years. Weโve been strict with you because you were never good enough. Everything we did was for your own benefit. Donโt you get that?โ
Calliope crossed her arms. โYou want to know? Fine. Iโll tell you.โ
โReally?โ Horatioโs eyes lit up with hope.
โThe Miracle Doctor is me,โ Calliope said seriously.
Ulysses let out a short, incredulous laugh. โYou? Come on, Calliope. If youโre her, then I must be the next coming of Christ!โ
Calliope lifted her gaze, her expression as cool as ice. โIโm telling the truth. Believe me or donโt. Itโs not my problem.โ
โIf you donโt want to say, then just donโt. But why make up nonsense?โ Valerian folded his arms, glaring at her.
โCallie, pleaseโฆ My legsโฆ I really need them to heal. I donโt want to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair,โ Horatio began playing the sympathy card. โYou know how much this means to me. Iโve never asked you for anything before, but Iโm begging you now. Tell us who exactly she is and her whereabouts. Just ask Mr. Thorne about it, okay?โ
Calliope was left speechless. They didnโt believe her, yet they still wanted her to ask for them?
โJust telling us wonโt cost you anything. I donโt get why you have to be so stubborn about this,โ Ulysses snapped. โAre you really this heartless?โ
โI told you already. You just refuse to believe me. What else do you want me to do?โ Calliope shrugged. โThen go find the doctor you believe on your own.โ
With that, she turned on her heel and walked away, not wasting another second on them.
She had originally planned to find Baber, but when she glanced around, he was nowhere to be seen. Even the four bodyguards had disappeared.
Still, she wasnโt too worried. Baber was surrounded by highly trained professionals. He probably just went to the restroom, she figured.
So, she headed in that direction. But when she arrived, there was no sign of Baber or the bodyguards.
โMs. Jewell! Bad news!โ One of the bodyguards came running toward her, breathless. โThe young master is missing!โ
โMissing?โ Calliope was taken aback. โWerenโt the four of you with him? How did he just disappear?โ
โHe said he needed to use the restroom, so we brought him here. We waited outside for a bit, but when he still didnโt show, we went in to check. Andโฆ he was gone! What do we do?! We split up and searched the area, but thereโs no sign of him anywhere. You donโt thinkโฆ some human trafficker took him, do you?โ
The bodyguard was sweating bullets now, his face pale with fear.
They all knew exactly what kind of man their boss was. He treasured his son more than anything in the world. No one was even allowed to so much as scratch the kid, let alone lose him.
If they didnโt find Baber soon, they were as good as dead.
