Chapter 262

Calliope and Uriah entered the mansion, instantly catching the attention of many party-goers.

Calliope was wearing a sleek, black cocktail dress made of satin. It hugged her figure perfectly, and the ribbon of her high heels was elegantly tied around her slender, fair ankles. Her long, wavy hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

The chandelierโ€™s light in the grand hall glinted off her dress, making her look radiant and captivating, almost as if she were someone you wanted to protect. Not many could pull off such a striking look in a black dress.

In stark contrast stood Yara, dressed in a vibrant red gown. The contrast between Calliopeโ€™s black and Yaraโ€™s red made them both stand out sharply.

โ€œMs. Jewell, welcome to the party,โ€ Yara greeted, stepping forward.

Calliope smiled politely and nodded in acknowledgment. Around them, the other women seemed to fade into the background, overshadowed by the two.

โ€œIsnโ€™t that the eldest daughter from the Jewell family? I heard she got kicked out!โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s she doing at Yaraโ€™s party?โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t Yara into Silas? Calliope stole her man. Yara might just go off the rails tonight!โ€

โ€œCalliopeโ€™s in trouble then. Sheโ€™s no match for Yara!โ€

โ€œEveryone says sheโ€™s the black sheep of the Jewell family. How can she compete with Yara?โ€

โ€œAre we in for a show tonight?โ€

โ€œLooks like it.โ€

โ€œI wonder what Yaraโ€™s planning!โ€

โ€œIโ€™m kind of excited to see.โ€

The whispers and murmurs buzzed around the room, everyone intrigued by what might unfold between Calliope and Yara.

Yara didnโ€™t immediately make things difficult for Calliope. Instead, she took a moment to appraise her before speaking. โ€œMs. Jewell, we made a bet, didnโ€™t we? You follow my lead tonight, and Iโ€™ll return Silas to you.โ€

โ€œSo, I have a few tasks for you. Can you handle that?โ€ Yara asked with a sly smile.

โ€œGo ahead and say it,โ€ Calliope replied, her expression unchanging.

Yara clapped her hands, and a waiter approached with a tray of drinks.

Yara smiled. โ€œHere are several drinks. Some are strong spirits, some are regular, and thereโ€™s water. Pick three to drink. No matter what you choose, you need to finish them. Thatโ€™s the first challenge.โ€

Calliope nodded, โ€œOkay.โ€

โ€œYaraโ€™s strong drinks are probably really strong! Calliope might be knocked out after just one!โ€

โ€œWho knows? Maybe sheโ€™ll pick the non-alcoholic ones!โ€

โ€œCan she even handle her liquor? Iโ€™ve seen her at parties, but never drinking!โ€

โ€œEven men donโ€™t dare to challenge Yara to a drinking contest!โ€

Without hesitation, Calliope selected three drinks and downed them one by one. It only took a moment for her to finish, tilting each glass to show they were empty, not a drop left.

Afterward, she remained composed, her face showing no signs of discomfort.

โ€œDid she get that lucky? It mustโ€™ve been all water!โ€

โ€œYeah, she looks completely unfazed. It had to be water!โ€

โ€œYara, was it water she drank?โ€

Someone asked Yara, curious.

Yara turned to the waiter. โ€œWas it spirits or water?โ€

โ€œAll three were strong spirits,โ€ the waiter replied, his eyes filled with admiration.

The drinks were remarkably potent, the kind that would leave most people reeling after just a few sips. Yet, this elegant woman drank three without batting an eyelash.

โ€œNo way, not with that strength!โ€

โ€œCan I try one?โ€

Skeptical, someone leaned in closer, eager to test the drinks themselves.
