Chapter 294
Why is that so? Is Calliope that important?
Lisetteโs eyes flickered with darkness as she glanced toward Mr. Lopez, hoping to salvage her image and jab at Calliope.
โMr. Lopez, perhaps you have some misunderstandings about Calliope? Her reputation isnโt the best. Associating with her could tarnish your own.โ
โIโm not exaggerating. Here in Capitalton, many people arenโt fond of Calliope. Youโve been abroad, so itโs understandable if youโre unaware of the situation here. Although I donโt know who told you what, you donโt need to meet Calliope.โ
โDo I need you to tell me how to handle my affairs?โ Mr. Lopez looked at Lisette with a smirk. โDidnโt you understand what I said? I told you to get lost. Didnโt you hear me?โ
Being told to leave before so many people made Lisetteโs face flush with embarrassment.
โMr. Lopez, youโll regret this!โ Lisette stepped aside, fuming.
โI told you to leave, didnโt I?โ Mr. Lopez turned his head, staring at Lisette, who was almost at the door. Then, he turned to Monty, โYour daughter doesnโt seem to understand simple instructions. I said leave. Why hasnโt she left? It seems the Jewell family isnโt sincere about working with me.โ
Monty glanced toward Lisette, a sense of panic rising within him. It was clear Mr. Lopez was genuinely upset. Whenever they discussed business before, Mr. Lopez was always smiling, never this intimidating.
In the room, no one dared to speak. Everyone sat upright, glancing sympathetically toward Monty.
Someone advised, โMr. Lopez told her to leave. Shouldnโt she get out?โ
โLisette! Didnโt you hear Mr. Lopez?โ Monty shouted at Lisette.
Lisette looked at Monty in disbelief.
โMr. Lopez is like God. If he tells you to do something, you do it!โ
The Jewell family couldnโt afford to lose such a significant client. So, Lisette would have to endure the humiliation.
โDad!โ Lisette couldnโt believe it. How was she supposed to get lost? She had an injured arm, and so many people were watching. She was wearing a beautiful dress. If anyone saw her like this, theyโd laugh at her forever.
โLisette, did you hear me?โ Monty looked at Lisette sternly.
Lisette bit her lip. She dared not offend Mr. Lopez further, so she turned on her heels and stormed out of the room. Mr. Lopez watched in satisfaction as his assistant closed the door. He then turned to Monty. โSo, Mr. Jewell, where is the person I wanted to see? Shouldnโt you bring her out to meet me?โ
Montyโs face was grim. He pulled out his phone, trying to call Calliope.
No answer.
Mr. Lopez glanced at Monty. โDid Calliope block you, Mr. Jewell? It seems you havenโt treated her well over the years, huh?โ
โNo. Calliope left the Jewell family on her own!โ Monty wanted to curse but held back. He knew the man before him was not someone he could afford to offend.
โOh, and then she blocked you? No reason at all?โ Mr. Lopez folded his arms, his posture relaxed yet exuding authority, his gaze carrying an intimidating pressure.
โWait, wait. Iโll try again. After all, I am Callieโs father!โ
โYou may not be as much her father as you think,โ Mr. Lopezโs eyes were cold and unyielding.
